French Toast Casserole

french toast casserole for christmas breakfast

I am sure many of you have seen the French Toast Casserole on Pinterest but you may not yet have tried it.  We first had this at a friends camp last spring and then I found the recipe on Pinterest ( I know what a surprise finding a recipe on Pinterest.). This is a quick and simple meal to prepare in advance.

Cut up one french baguette
Mix 8 eggs, 1/4 cup maple syrup, 2 tsp vanilla ( I prefer the mexican vanilla) dash of cinnamon

Spray pan and then add cut up bread ( day old French Baquette works perfect),  pour egg mixture over bread,  add half package of cream cheese ( recipe called for full pack but we found that a little to much)
Cover container with foil and store in fridge overnight.
In the morning preheat oven to 350 and place casserole in oven while you are opening Santa Socks.
Cook for about 45 minutes. Pour 3/4 maple syrup over the top or allow each to add their own.

Sprinkle Icing Sugar over the top and serve

Cream Cheese French Toast

For a healthier variation Blueberries and strawberries can be added.
Enjoy.

  • This is why I shouldn't be on the internet without having lunch…you are making me SO hungry!

  • Wow! I have never heard of this! I like that it is so much easier to make than regular French toast. This is going to be a very popular dish in my house!
