Loving Life after 50

Google +, friend , enemy or frenemy?

This is a post I should have done yesterday for Random Wednesday in the total randomness of all I want to share, Google +, a Blog Conference, a liebster award and an outfit all crammed into one happy Linda Post.

Well I did it, I reverted to my Google + profile, try not to hate me to much but I am a little bit hooked on it.  For the haters out there my email address is still on my google + profile so hopefully you can reach me if ya need to. I am having a great time on Google + and find that the interaction there is very awesome, engaging each other is easy and sharing the love is simple.( and I am attending a conference this weekend and one of the sessions is “Google + embrace it,” so be prepared for my brainwashing next week). The one point I will agree with the google + haters is the ease with which one can email someone using their blogger profile, we just need to convince Google to modify the program that’s a;ll,  come on peeps we can do this…

BConnected Conference, there it is folks, my first blogging conference and I am very excited. I have been debating attending this conference since I discovered it and finally Kent pushed me into registering,  his exact words were, if I was enjoying blogging this much why wouldn’t I attend,  and again he was right. Why wouldn’t I embrace the opportunity to learn more and network and have fun….. so I will be there all weekend learning and listening and hopefully making some great connections/friends.Next week I look forward to sharing all the tips I pick up. The Conference has a main focus on Mommy and Parent Bloggers but all were encouraged to attend and considering the fact that Ottawa seems to only have two conferences i may as well jump in now right??

To the best news of all, well at least for me, I was nominated for a Liebster award by Noelle at Sunshine and Pearls.  To those of you thinking what the heck is a Liebster Award, well,

  • This award exists only on the internet, and is given to bloggers by other bloggers.
  • It has German origins – the word “liebster” has several definitions: dearest, sweetest, kindest, nicest, beloved, lovely, kind, and the list goes on
  • Variations have been made over time to the “rules”.
  • Marketing plays a role in accepting this award, as other bloggers are promoted. (This is not a bad thing, however, since people should help others!)
  • Other awards are a part of the whole “meme“. These include “One Lovely Blog Award”, the “Sunshine Blog Award” and the “Versatile Writer Award”.
It is said that the Liebster award was created to recognize and/or discover new bloggers and welcome them to the blogosphere. In the digital world of the internet, this seems like a nice gesture, in my opinion!
So me being me can only take this in a very positive way, the fact that someone is reading my blog and cared enough to think about me, is for me a ” pay it forward ” kind of thing, so I am going to accept the award and respond to the award but in a post dedicated to that.
Finally a post is not a post without an outfit, in my humble opinion, so today i am embracing spring and the +14 degrees we are expecting.
Banana Republic is my friend, especially the outlet Store.  I have yet another dress that I puchased along with a light weight cardigan.  necklace is from GH Bass Shoes ( really it is) and shoes by shoe dazzle.  Had a hard time with the shoes today, I have purple pumps, turquoise pumps and yellow pumps that all go perfectly with this dress ( yes there are splashes of turquoise and yellow ) but for today I wanted Nude, just because, sometimes a great neutral just calls out to you and for me these pumps always call my name they are so comfortable, plus pink soles again….
Small Linda Fact, I rarely if ever wear my pumps outside, especially pink soles ( duh),  gone are my glory days where I wore heels everywear and wore the heels down to nothing,  I love my shoes and I want to preserve them so I always wear some sort of walking footwear to and from the office. Today I am wearing my Toms, and yep they look smashing with this outfit.

  • I really like you in purple, it's a good color on you. I haven't embraced google+, I just can't do it!!

    • you should try it, I cannot believe how many are embracing it.

  • You look lovely in purple, Linda. Great dress!

    Enjoy the weekend. Ada. =)

    • Thank you, you have a wonderful weekend and hopefully you and the little one get to enjoy some outdoor time

  • Linda – just found your blog – I really like it! Love that dress and cardigan on you – the color is so pretty. I have a bit of an addiction to Tom's and I love that color.
