Loving Life after 50

Terry’s Chocolate Orange Shortbread Cookies

1 Cup margerine ( I use butter)
1/2 cup icing sugar ( also known as confectionary sugar)
1/2 tsp orange zest ( I usually skip this)
2 cups flour
1 Terry’s Chocolate Orange

Heat oven to 350
Break your orange into slices and break each slice in half

Beat Butter and icing sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy, add zest, gradually add in flour, beating well after each additional ingredient is added.

Shape dough into 1 1/2 inch balls, take a piece of chocolate and insert into ball make sur the chocolate piece is covered with the cookie dough, place two inches apart on baking sheet ( I always cover cookie sheet in parchment paper)

Flatten slightly

Bake cookies for 20 minutes, remove from oven and immediately place a piece of chocolate on each cookie.

Let cool on cookie sheet for three minutes.

  • Hmm these sound great! Never would have thought to put chocolate and orange together!

  • I have always only had plain shortbread cookies. The addition of the chocolate orange sounds like it would both enhance the sweetness as well as add some moistness. The touch of the Hershey's Hugs on top gives the dessert a whimsical feel.
