I just realized that I stopped my wine tour before I finished introducing you to all of my favourite vineyards, so I thought Saturdays might be a great day to get back to a little Travel, a little Food and a little wine. Time to re-introduce you to the Niagara Wine Region.(Konzelmann, Hinterbrrok, Lailey, Southbrook, and Ravine)
Next on my tour was Kacaba pronounced Ka-saw-ba, for the longest time I thought it was a hard see Ka-Ka-ba, so please show you have done your homework if you visit remember “SAW”.
Kacaba Vineyards Winery is a premium small batch winery located on prime bench land of The Niagara Escarpment in Vineland, Ontario. Smaller batch sizes assure that focus is placed on producing wine of Merit. The Winemaker’s emphasis is placed on creating wines rich in aromas, deep in color and character with velvety finishes. Kacaba wines are produced using only the finest grapes grown on the Kacaba estate or partnered grape growers from surrounding vineyards. All Kacaba Vineyards wines are award winning and sell through quickly.
Trust me these wines are “wines of merit”. I had tried Kacaba previously ( sampled at an Ontario Wine Show, and picked up a bottle or two at the LCBO) but we have never been to the Vineyard. What an absolute treat. A quaint vineyard with an interesting story. The land apparently was slated for sub division hell when Michael Kacaba a Toronto Lawyer originally from Saskatchewan managed to snap up the property/
They are truly not kidding this bridge really does groan and creek and quite possibly causes a bit of an anxious moment when your vehicle crosses.
The Tasting Room is set in a lovely building surrounded by potted flowers, antiques and charming decor. The care with which the grounds are kept provide an insight into the care that obviously is given to the grapes and subsequently the wine.
