What a glorious weekend it was,  Sun was shining and after I spent all day Saturday cleaning my house after four weeks of total neglect, then a lovely evening of tortilla pizzas and copious amounts of wine, we thought Sunday would be a great day for an outing. We decided a trip to Ogdensburg would be a great way to spend the day, an hour down the highway from Ottawa little bit of cross border shopping and maybe a quick trip to Price Chopper, because hello, I love grocery shopping in the US of A.  Seriously I love the grocery stores, there are always cool little food treats that we just don’t have so every trip is a mini adventure.
Well bonus time, this Sunday there was an Antique Car Show to help celebrate the end of the Ogdensburg International Seaway Festival.  I adore antique cars and could probably fill this post with a zillion pictures because yes I just may have taken a ton,  but instead just a few teasers.
Is the Hawk not awesome???

and who doesn’t love a 1957 Bel Air right?

well after we finished meandering through the Car Show ( outside in very hot, humid conditions) we then boogied over to Price Chopper and I may have just discovered yet another awesome drink for Linda…  a Lemon Shandy, already premade.. how totally cool is that.  On a serious note I started drinking Shandy’s last year but the thought of a premixed was pretty exciting and I may have just gotten the very last case.  A case of Shandy, some Miller Lite ( still kicking myself I did not get the Redd’s Green Apple) and then some Tyson Chicken and some Hillshire Italian Sausages for supper.
( then I spotted the scallops and figured why not,  Shandy Infused Scallops on a hot summer day)

BUT first we need to sample and ensure it actually tastes great right?
Summer Shandy

refreshing drink

Sunday Supper was a summer delight,  Scallops as an appetizer,

beer infused scallops

 then
marinated chicken and cucumber watermelon salad
the Cucumber Watermelon Salad ( I mean seriously we already had the watermelon right), with a chicken breast (marinated in summer shandy) for me and Italian Sausages  for the boys.  Add a garden salad,  ( and just maybe some summer wine)
Chicken is pretty basic,
Place the chicken in a shallow dish, pour in enough shandy to cover, let sit in fridge for an hour or two.
Remove from fridge and then cover in bone dust ( link below)
place on BBQ, we place the chicken on the side of the BBQ that does not have the heat on, allows for a slow cook and no burning,  love when I say ” we” and I really mean ” Kent”.

now that your mouth is watering  I thought I would share an adaptation of Ted Reader’s Beer Infused Bacon Wrapped Scallops.  We have tried this a few times already but traditionally we have stuck to the beer he recommended, this time we tried a few with the Summer Shandy and a few with
Miller Lite
( I think the Miller Lite was the way to go )

and as a special treat Ted Reader’s Bone Dust which can be used to flavour everything ( I used it on the chicken)
So all in all what i call a successful Sunday Outing ending with a trip to Price Choppers and then an awesome BBQ Dinner at home. So how was your Sunday?

PS check out the Pinterest Board for some more amazing recipes. ( there is a Redd’s Pulled Pork I cannot wait to try)  on a glass half full/glass half empty note looks like I  am heading to Windsor to visit Nick and Ellie if I plan on enjoying my Summer Shandy’s, found a few choice spots near them that may just have what I need so watch out Tom’s Oyster Bar, Blarney Stone Pub and Mercury Burger and Bar, there just may be a quick visit in the very near future.
