Loving Life after 50

Is there Room For Periscope or Facebook Live in Your Life (Blog)

persicope or facebook live, are you ready to video
A Blog Conference is probably the number one activity you can participate in to rejuvenate your interest, take you in new directions or sometimes make you feel totally not behind the eight ball. You start discovering everything you are doing wrong, hopefully a few things you are doing right and just maybe some new things you should try.

At  BConnected Conference in Ottawa this weekend the flow of information was amazing, I had an opportunity to work on my photography skills, learn how to pitch and how to write kick ass content just to name a few. I also learned or actually had confirmed that the new direction of social media is video.  Brands are screaming for video everywhere so I need to figure out how to incorporate something I am not really comfortable with into my blog.  I feel like I should add a big disclaimer here, writing kick ass content tells you to find a quiet place without distractions to write and to shut down all social media but I am sitting here in front of the TV with Game of Thrones on… plus I have 8 ( yes eight) additional tabs open on my browser so you can imagine I may not be in the most ” non distracting place”  My content may not be defined as Kick Ass but hopefully it will be informative.
Have you tried video yet? I suck, no seriously I really suck, I feel so very self conscious even when no-one else is around. Today I decided to take a step outside of my comfort zone and figured I would persicope my outfit shoot.  Small step but one in the right direction. I think only three people saw it and I sadly did not get any hearts but I did it. I have tried periscoping. last year at Blissdom for two minutes and then twice in Whitehorse.. I think you really have to practice to get more comfortable at this so I have developed a five step plan.
five easy steps to get video confident
Five Step Plan for getting Comfortable with Video on the Blog
1) Use snapchat a 10-15 second video that lives only for twenty four hours, how hard can it be to a post a short clip that disappears in a very safe forum, right?? Every day for a week post at least one short video clip
2) Week two, pick an activity or event and use persicope, again totally safe mode as it also only lives for a temporary period of time so if your friends don’t know they cant see you babble?
3) After a few persicopes to get comfortable, try a scheduled scope and have someone you trust watch you and start hearting the heck out of it, its called positive reinforcement and trust me it always works,  Compare it to the carrot and stick method.
4) Now we are going to get cra-cra crazy and hit the facebook live ( I know holy crap) FYI I did not know this even existed till this weekend but its a step up because your video will be saved.
and then the final big one
5) Now we are actually going to create a video clip for our blog….. I am going to figure out what craft I would like to recreate and I am going to tape myself and post it on the blog I tired this with the bunny napkin post but I got off the top of my head and could only see an awful double chin and the start of a belly roll so that got deleted …. my goal is a video post for you within three weeks.
stay tuned and follow me on Snapchat and Periscope to watch my progress, and if this works and I manage to master video my next step is Mailchimp and how to actually create a newsletter. Anyone other than me tired of hearing how important email list and newsletters are and how great the programs are but no-one I mean no-one actually shows you what to do?.
and now back to our regularly scheduled outfit post, one that I also used to be very awkward and uncomfortable with but that to is becoming easier.

I am still infatuated with the concept of a dress as a shirt and honestly its a great seasonal transition style, take a summer dress ( My J Crew) some white denim ( Old Navy) a great lightweight cardi
( F21) and a neutral boot (Brandzaffair) and you can transition easy no matter what the temperature.  Broke out the awesome necklace I was sent.  from Sylca last worn here.
