Homemade Cannoli Pie with a twist (Gay Lea Cottage Cheese)

Cannoli Pie another video recipe I found on Facebook and just had to try.  I am relatively new to the cannoli world but true confession they are yummy so finding an easy adaptation was like a bonus for me. My secret ingredient, wait for it Smooth lemon zest cottage cheese

Got a bit of a secret though, cannoli calls for Riccota cheese and this recipe called for Ricotta and lemon zest but I like to shake things up a bit so I tried something new Gay Lea lemon zest cottage cheese.  I know WTH right…. cottage cheese.

I use cottage cheese a lot in my lasagna and once I even used it in a cheesecake but I was leary of messing with the smooth cannoli recipe.  I stumbled upon the smooth citrus ( and the even have a salted caramel) cottage cheese at the Superstore and I thought this might be an interesting twist.  It was.  Too funny that I could never eat cottage cheese on its own but I love cooking with it. The pie was a huge hit but I think it would have been better if I had broken cannoli shells on top…. next time.

The recipe is very easy and its a quick dessert to prepare.
2- 8 oz packages cream cheese
1 c cottage cheese smooth ( lemon)
1 C icing sugar
1 c whipping cream
1 tbsp cinnamon
1 tbsp nutmug
2 tbsp vanilla
mini chocolate chips
Blend everything together
Pour into crust
Graham cracker crust
cannoli shells
Sprinkle cannoli shells on top and refrigerate 4 hours.
Serve and enjoy

Homemade Cannoli Pie made with Gay Lea Blended Cottage Cheese

a quick and easy summer dessert

  • 2 8 oz Cream cheese
  • 1 c gay lea blended lemon zest cottage cheese
  • 1 c icing sugar
  • 1 c whipping cream
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • dash nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp mexican vanilla
  • 1 c mini chocolate chips
  • 1 graham cracker crust
  • waffle cone broken
  1. • Blend everything together

  2. • Pour into crust

  3. garnish with waffle cone or cannoli shells and chocolate chips

  4. refrigerate for 3 hours
