Its Fri-Yay and know what else its a long weekend because here in Canada we are celebrating Thanksgiving. Its supposed to be a time of giving thanks but truly all I am thinking about is Turkey and sugar pie.  I know it is supposed to be pumpkin but ever since I moved to Ontario Sugar Pie has been my go to. WE still also do Pumpkin and Apple so yea pie heaven at our house.

Last year the Band was in town so we had sixteen for dinner, Thanksgiving is all about opening our home to anyone we think might be alone or looking for extra company.  Kent cooks a mean dinner.  Seriously he brines the turkey ( recipe coming soon), makes his own homemade stuffing, gets the veggies all ready and I take care of Table and Dessert,  Not a bad deal for me right?

Well it shouldn’t be a big deal but it has at times been a challenge. One year I got crazy and made pumpkin pie with pretty gingerbread men all over the top, huge hit.but then another year I took a shortcut and purchased a premade pie.  That would not have been a bad thing EXCEPT…..

Not being  real pumpkin pie eater I did not notice the texture seemed slightly off.  Got the buffet all set with the apple pie and the pumpkin pie, we ate a great meal and then went for dessert.  WELL it was not a precooked pie so when I cut into it we realized it needed to be baked.  Kent was not impressed, waiting an hour for pie was not what he had planned.  Now I make sure if a cheat on pie I make sure it is pre cooked.  So do you have any bad dinner stories?

For today we are making our dinner plans and figuring out what we will be doing over the weekend, bathroom reno is delayed as my trim is not yet in but we may start painting the hallway (excited about that too).  We also may be ripping out the cedars in the front to open up the house.  I would ove to see that area opened up but I may then have to find a new photo spot.

Rocking a leather jacket from Zellers (old) over a forever 21 checked duster and Booties. Normally I wear my leather leggings but with the warm temperatures we are having I opted for my LNBF Bamboo leggings. Wearing my Black Bloom again from Happiness Boutique and I totally forgot to mention earlier that if you use “alabouroflife” you get 10% off all orders over 19 euros (21 Us or 27 cdn)

  • I did not know when Thanksgiving started in Canada! I learned one lesson about that holiday, the hard way. I gave up trying to bake a pumpkin pie because I always ended up with a soggy filling and burnt crust. My family's favorite movie to watch (after the Macy's Parade and Charlie Brown special) is the Pauly Shore comedy, 'Son-In-Law'. We all typically load up on side dishes. Can't wait for this year's Black Friday/Cyber Monday!
