We have fallen out of the habit of three and four course gourmet meals over the past year, but with Fall upon us and the cold weather creeping in Kent and I decided it was time to resume our tradition. You have heard it before, Kent is an amazing cook and loves to create amazing dishes and what better way to spend the weekend together then in the kitchen ( well now that sounds downright funny doesn’t it. Romantic and kitchen)
On the menu last weekend was Gourmet Garlic Soup, so amazingly delicious and a dish you really do need to share together. It has over 40 cloves of garlic so you can imagine it’s not a dish you want to eat on your own. It is however an amazing dish to share together over candlelight or even as left- overs to take to the office. ( small secret we try and steal lunch away together as often as we can, in the summer its out on the picnic tables enjoying some sunshine, during the winter well where ever we find a spot)
The recipe is relatively easy to make and everyone will swear that you have hired a gourmet chef. Its the soup intended to impress at all levels. It doesn’t require a ton of ingredients Garlic, Honey, potatoes, chicken broth, cream, butter, bay leaves and Salt and pepper. Take your time and smell the deliciousness wafting through the house.
The secret ingredient is the honeyed garlic cloves, the 12 roasted cloves rolled in honey are the perfect topper for the soup, big tip take a picture fast because they sink quickly to the bottom, I was too slow and too hungry to try again. I am feeling really generous so I have included the amazing recipe below. Try it out and let me know what you think.
They really are totally leak proof, I took the soup for lunch and no spillage, no leakage and the microwave at work personally thank me when I was finished. I usually am the splatter gal but not this time. With the Rubbermaid Brilliance I now can agree with total confidence to take gourmet soup to our next dinner party. ( and are you kidding me in these containers who wouldn’t want to take them and show them off)
They are easy to find, check out your local Walmart in the food storage aisle, I know I too believed they would actually be in home decor they are so pretty but alas they were with all the other non- pretty containers. ( these are really new to Canada, so glad I grabbed them in Brockville because I haven’t yet found them in Ottawa, soon I hope soon)
