Happy Fierce Follow Friday. A day to celebrate the Fierce Fifty Movement/Revolution. My awesome tribe of 50 plus year old’s embracing life and sharing a love for fashion and each other. Guess what, I am Fierce and Fifty. Are you part of the Revolution yet?
The Fierce 50
The Fierce 50 represents a powerful group of women who have come together, united in supporting, helping and honoring one another. We are women that have overcome cancer, lost loved ones, raised our children, survived some pretty major adversity, as well as reveled in life’s tremendous joys.
The inspiration for the campaign is to highlight our powerful demographic and to try and blur the boundaries amongst the various age groups in the blogging world. A wide variety of female bloggers are included in the mix from fashion to music to health and fitness.
Midlife is clearly an exciting and powerful time in a woman’s life. Our group of women is out to change the way the world views women at midlife and beyond. I may be 53 but in my heart I am still that girl. The body may be a little thicker, the wrinkles a few more but for me I still love life and fashion.
I do not want to wear polyester pants and floral tops ( OK well maybe I do love floral tops). There will not be elastic around my waist, except when I eat too much. This gal wants choice and selection. I want to matter and I want to be noticed.
Know what else I want? I want to see someone like me in advertising the clothes I want to buy. Please do not use the young girls, I want to see a fifty year old wearing that makeup and trying that moisturizer. Seriously, getting an 18 year old photographed without makeup telling me “your cream” is good for mature skin is not a selling point.
Don’t tell me to cut my hair, or shop elsewhere. This is an opportunity for you to check the demographics of who actually loves your product and focus on that person.
Let’s talk vacation advert’s ? Can someone, I mean anyone really take resort pictures with the peeps that are really there. Seriously, I am the demographic that has the money to go ( usually) but I may avoid your place because I am not twenty. Nor do I look like that in a bikini, and yes peeps I still wear a bikini deal with it. Quite possibly if I saw “Me” in the brochure I might actually go.
I am “50” I am not dead, nor old nor boring. I am the same person I was in my 20’s. Just a little smarter with a lot more money.
Isn’t it ironic that the more able you are to see something, do something or go somewhere the less likely you are to be their target demographic?
And so began a movement, more like a revolution actually. Meet the woman who are changing what 50 looks like, feels like or even acts like. WE are not the Mothers and grandmothers of by gone years. You may find us still baking the cookies, and setting the tables or we may not. There is a chance we will still take you to the park and play but we will not be in polyester, we will be in linen. There is not a chance we will shop at the “old Lady” store but you will see us at Forever 21 or H & M because we are just like you.
To quote one of my very favourite movies…. ” We will not go quietly into the night…”
This is one of my all time favourite dresses from J Crew Factory. It has the perfect line, pockets and a striking pattern. You will see this often on me. Today I again added a blazer I found at Zeller’s ( dating me here), Shoe Dazzle floral slingbacks and a Kate Spade Bag. FYI I am a Fan of Coach and Kate Spade and no Kate Spade is just not for the younger generation. I added this amazing Floral necklace (c/o) from 7 Charming Sisters ( don’t forget 20″ off if you use labo20). The necklace is not for the faint of heart, it has weight but it is stunning. My Jord capped off the work appropriate non-old woman look.
