So the holiday season is upon us, and that means it’s time to get your house good and ready! You’ll want everything to look perfect when you’re entertaining your guests, plus make some space for all those Christmas gifts. If you’re looking for a few easy ways to spruce up your rooms, you’re in luck!
1 . Accessorize in Christmas colours
Buying yourself some new accessories is the easiest way to give your home a revamp. Think cushions, rugs and throws for your sofa. When you’re shopping for your accessories- why not give some Christmas themed colours a try? Reds, greens and shades of golden will give your home a festive colour boost in no time.
Of course, if you’ve already bright colour schemes- it might be too much of a clash to add red or green. However, if your home is mostly decorated with neutral tones- you’ll easily be able to pull this off! Green is one of the easiest colours on the eyes plus it’s so on trend this season.
Get some festive scents
Investing in a lovely candle or two can be an excellent way to give your home a real festive feel. Shop for candles in scents like gingerbread, cinnamon, nutmeg to get that holiday feeling. These will get your house smelling like Christmas cookies in no time.
Where possible, try getting candles that are made out of soy or vegetable wax as opposed to conventional candles. The traditional type are a little less healthy as they release toxins into the air when they are burnt. (Soy or vegetable wax are more eco-friendly too)!
A nice lick of paint
There’s nothing better to make a room look brand new than a nice lick of paint. The end of the year can be an excellent time to a little decorating done. It’s likely that your paint job may have faded over the year and could do with a revamp!
You may not wish to change up your colour schemes, but if you do- remember to stick to light colours for a small room. White is the best colour to make a smaller room feel bigger and brighter in no time.
If you want to jazz up your home, making more space is essential. A home that’s cluttered creates an uncomfortable atmosphere. Have you ever noticed that when a space is messy, it’s hard to concentrate and relax? Before the holiday season arrives have a good old declutter and get rid of your unwanted items.
We tend to hold onto possessions that we don’t really use or need out of pure habit. This year, try to break free from the clutter and get yourself organised. Decluttering can be a great idea, especially if you’re planning a house move in the New Year.
Once you’ve decluttered, it’s easier for your removal company to give you an accurate quote. Those who are planning a move can click here for some great services.
Finally as a bonus tip, when it comes to your Christmas tree– think colour coordination. Many of us tend to just put every decoration we have on the tree! I use to do that but now I am a Theme Gal.Yet, choosing one or two key colours can make everything look more elegant.
