creating a thanksgiving dinner

Last Updated on 2020-10-16 by Linda

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and if you are a planner like me it is time to get ready.I have gathered the best recipes together for the perfect celebration dinner. Thanksgiving meals depending on your region, country or sometimes family may look slightly different.

I remeber when we lived in Saudi Arabia, friends offered to bring the “dressing”  Mom accepted and instead of our normal turkey stuffing they brought oyster dressing.  Well that was a tradition for them but not fire us.  Hashtag disappointed kids.

Today I have compiled what our normal dinner looks like, well except I forgot the rolls, pierogies and pre-dinner snacks. ( And don’t forget the checklist of what you need to buy for dinner just in case lol)  Well looks like edition two will have to come out later.

And don;t forget your table, that makes dinner complete.  This year I went a burlap and neutral table but other years I created Turkey Napkins. It all works well right?

In the meantime let’s get prepping shall we.

The Perfect Thanksgiving Dinner

Is there anything more scrumptious than Thanksgiving Dinner? Other than Christmas and easter Dinners lol. This can be a repeat list as an FYI. In my home we celebrate with stuffing not dressing, and squash vs peas. While I find everyone has their favourites this list is a good base to follow. Maybe my list number two will include dinner rolls and perogies? And possibly a cheesecake. For today we shall stick to the tried and true.

How to Cook a Turkey for Thanksgiving

Learning how to cook a turkey is not a complicated task.  It requires a few simple steps and an attention to detail during the day. Need to know what temperature to cook a turkey?   How long to cook a turkey? I have got you covered.

Sharing some quick and easy steps for you to create the perfect dinner for your family, no matter how big or small.

How to Make Turkey Stuffing

The perfect turkey dinner is not just one piece, it is the sum of all of the parts.  The turkey, with the stuffing, added to the potatoes and squash and peas and well you get the picture, it is all off it together. Today we are going to talk stuffing, not dressing.

Stuffing is one of my favourite parts of turkey dinner.

How to Brine a Turkey

The first step is the perfect brine. 48 hours prior to your celebration dinner it is time to get started.

Brine is a new to me experience, not something traditional when I was a child. Now that we have started to brine our turkeys, I could never go back to a non-brine. Moist and delicious.

World’s Best Mashed Potatoes

Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners should be centered around mashed potatoes.  It’s not only my favorite side dish but easily my favorite food.

Oven Roasted Butternut Squash

Thanksgiving dinner is not complete without the buttery goodness of squash. This tasty baked recipe would be the perfect addition to my dinner

Glazed Carrots Made with Brown Sugar and Butter

These glazed carrots are incredibly versatile and require only a few basic ingredients. The sweetened butter sauce makes them a must-have for any family dinner or holiday meal.

Homemade Cranberry Sauce

Easy recipe for homemade cranberry sauce! Whole berry or jellied, with only 3 ingredients. Done in 20 minutes. Keep it simple or jazz it up with add-ins!

Lady Ashburn Pickles

A Maritime favourite that you don't usually find elsewhere. Similar to a mustard pickle but way better. Can you have a Holiday dinner without pickles?

Bourbon Pumpkin Pie

Turkey dinner which pairs with Pumpkin Pie. I decided to up the dessert factor with a Homemade Bourbon Pumpkin Pie.

Apple Pie a la Mode

And finally not a pumpkin fan then, Thanksgiving and APPLE PIE is the perfect dessert. And if you top that off with homemade ice cream, well the meal is complete.
