Steps create your own Apothecary Jars
I had been “pinning” apothecary jars on Pinterest, and became fascinated with creating my own personal set. One problem living in Canada is none of the supplies are as readily available. I was not able to find wooden candlesticks anywhere especially not for a dollar.
I did find three matching silver ones at Target, cost of 6.00 each. Finals were at Michael’s as were the round wood stands but again not a buck each. Lord I could not even get the letters for a buck.
Supplies for the Christmas Apothecary Jars
First, I am a terrible Craft Blogger as I forgot to take pictures till well into the project. Oh well it is a pretty basic craft to follow. Let me know if you need any specifics or guidance. One key element is deciding how many Jars you want and then what seasonal word to use. I actually went with ” JOY” for Christmas and “BOO” for Halloween. Keeping the colour to one that worked well with both seasons.
- 3 jars
- 3 candle sticks of varying heights, wood works best
- 3-6 round plaques
- 3 finals
- paint
- ribbon
- candy to fill jars
- glue gun
- glue sticks
Steps to Follow for Apothecary Jars
- paint candlesticks, finals and round plaques all silver to match the lids on the jars.
- Glue plaques to the candlestick to create a wider base for the jar
- glue round plaque, and final to the lid to give a more interesting look
- Paint the letters silver and added some silver ribbon,
- add Bow for the top and my jars were done,
now what was I going to do with them…. Well saw another blog post this week about a hot chocolate bar and thought that would be perfect so I shall try that. I also removed the candlestick holders and tried the jars on their own
Other crafts to try
If you had fun with this Christmas craft I have a few more to share. Recently I created a beautiful Felt Garland that you can use on your tree or mantle. My Christmas Tree Sign was a favourite last year as were the Candy Cane Holders. Or maybe you might like to try the Mini Clay Pot Nutcrackers.
