Summer BBQ can it get any better. We are BBQ fanatics and constantly experimenting with different ways to create fun meals. How about BBQ Beef Kebob in a Basket, a delicious summer prep for stew beef.
BBQ Beef Kebob in a Basket
For the past few years we have been ordering our meat directly from Ontario Farmers. Arranging a years supply to be delivered in the Fall, trying to force us to meal plan better. It also allows us to support local and obtain the freshest, best cuts you can imagine. Stew Beef takes on a whole new meaning.
Growing up stew beef was the toughest cut, requiring hours of simmering in broth to be half way OK. Well the stew beef we have been receiving the last few years is not like the “olden days”. It is a prime cut, that almost seems wasted the traditional way.
Creating Beef Kabobs was the perfect way to enjoy the tender cut. Kent decided to take it up a notch, beek in a basket.
Prepping the BBQ Beef
No BBQ works in our home without Bone Dust. The perfect mixture of seasoning that will bring out the flavour of the meat. The stew beef was pre-seasoned prior to hitting the BBQ. The peppers and onions were prepped and sliced and we were ready to go.
We have the perfect BBQ basket that allows the vegetables and the beef to cook slowly over a low heat. Most people would assume that the beef would need to be on the spit longer but that is inaccurate. Paying attention and continuing to turn the meat and vegetables allows the food to be bbq’ed together. Trust me mixing the flavours creates the “Kebob” feeling.
The Perfect Summer Dish BBQ Beef
BBQ Beef Kabob in a basket is the perfect summer dish. A hot meal but not a lot of time required in the kitchen (or at the grill). Pair it with a salad and you have the perfect meal. For this summer time meal I added a Southwestern salad.
