Fresh off my cruise and I am still thinking tropical drinks, that’s not strange right? Sharing a fun twist with a Blue Long Island Iced Tea. Yep ya heard that correct Long Island and Blue used in the same sentence. It gives it such a Caribbean twist, reminding me of the ocean and white sandy beaches.

Blue Long Island Iced Tea

The Long Island iced tea, or Long Island ice tea, is an IBA official cocktail, typically made with vodka, tequila, light rum, triple sec, gin, and a splash of coke/cola/soda ( keeping it “regionally” real here). Despite its name, the cocktail does not actually contain iced tea, but is named for having the same amber hue as iced tea.

So what the heck is a Blue Long Island Iced Tea right? Well it may just contain Blue Curacao and Lemonade, so more like a Modified Long Beach Iced Tea. Regardless of the name it is light, refreshing and tastes delicious. And I will be sipping poolside this summer.

How do Make a Modified Iced Tea

It really is all about shaking, stirring or mixing. For me I am all about the pour and stir, normally but today we are going to shake, rock n roll. Or actually just shake a bit.

  1. Place ice cubes into the cocktail shaker.
  2. Pour in all the liquid ingredients.
  3. Shake well.
  4. Pour into a tall glass.
  5. Garnish with a lemon slice & a cherry.
  6. Cheers.
