It is just a few days away from Canada Day and the Canada Day Celebrations we will all be indulging in. Getting our red and white on is not difficult to do at all. Plus know what I am noticing, Canadians are really starting to share their pride. Flags are flying, porches are looking festive and the neighbourhood is embracing all that it means to recognize the day.

Canadian Pride
It honestly does not seem that long ago that I was envious of the USA. I wanted to be an American if only because I loved the pride in their country. Everywhere you looked the red, white and blue flew proudly. Although the movement in Canada was slow in building, it is happening. I am relatively confident it is not because we were not proud of Canada but more we were bashful to show that pride.
Canadians are not known for showing their exuberance, we are the quiet cousin sitting in the corner. Today though, people are putting their flags out early, stores are stocking their shelves with everything canadiana and we are shouting Happy Birthday. We have slowly realized there is nothing to be embarrassed about, pride in your home country is natural, needed and even expected.
I fly my Canadian flag year round but leading up to July 1st I may get a little excessive. Flags are flying, the red and white is awash and I am that gal standing tall (ok standing).
Canadian Tablescape
Let’s start with the table. Normally or in the past I have focused on my patio table but for 2018 I wanted an indoor tablescape. It really helped I stocked up on the Rae Dunn Canada Mugs last summer. Four perfect mugs to celebrate all that is canadian. This year I also found the perfect bowl (it’s supposed to be a dog bowl but I won’t tell if you wont).
Featuring the cutest red and white checked tablecloth and napkins as the start of something beautiful. I added white chargers and red plates and a few canadian flags. If you look really close, the wine glasses all have maple leafs on them too.
For a lovely centrepiece white Peonies from my garden and all on a large wood slab. My one mistake, I always colour the water in my vase. I should have used red this time oops.

My Canadian Yard
Out in the front yard the flags are all flying and for my porch well a white wicker set was begging for some red. I found the cutest blanket and pillow at Giant Tiger that was beautiful on my rocker. A few red accessories on a wooden crate, a lantern and of course the perfect welcome signs.
The Canada Day wreath on the door has been around for a few years but it still works. Maybe next year I will try something different.
Canadiana at it’s Best
How cute is that sign? I found it last year at Michael’s, man I adore that store. Walking into Michael’s is like a kid walking into a candy store, or Kent walking into a record store, uncontrollable desire. They carry such an amazing line of fun home accessories. The Lantern and sign are just a small hint of what they actually carry.

What’s coming next
Do you celebrate the birth of Canada, or Dominion Day? I will most likely add a fun tablescape to my backyard patio as well as a bunch of flags. OK who am i kidding I already did that ( don’t you watch my insta stories?). Anyhow back to my outdoor decor and table, Michaels is carrying a fun lumber jack line that I think I need to try. And hello pinwheel straws, this straw addict is not sure how she has not picked these up yet.
