Happy Friday and welcome to the sunny start of a Canada Day Weekend. OK totally not looking sunny in these pictures but trust me it is. I took these yesterday and although the day started gray and dreary it did turn sunny. Here in Canada we are heading into a lovely three day weekend and the forecast is POOLTIME.
Canada Day Weekend
The weather as I indicated yesterday is expected to hit an all time high. The advisory is such that they are actually contemplating cancelling the Canada Day festivities. Organizers are considering shortening the Canada Day noon-hour concert on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, moving it to a later time or even cancelling it if temperatures put public safety at risk.
I truly hope the shows are able to go on but it is positive hearing all the steps being put in place. Sadly with the world in the state it is in, security has become a major issue. Last year was the first time there was security to get on to Parliament hill. They say they have put provisions in place to alleviate the issues from last year. Plus water stations, first aid attendants and shelters from the sun will all be available.
My advise if you are heading to the festivities, take a water bottle that can be refilled, a mister is a smart idea and a small umbrella for shelter if its allowed. If no umbrellas, carry a towel so you can create a shade for yourself. Stay hydrated and beware of heat stroke signs.
I am sad that young people will never get to experience the freedom we had. Being able to walk freely on to Parliament was what made it a true Canadian experience. My prayer is that one day we will once again experience a sense of safety and freedom.
Canada Day Outfit
Today I am really showing my patriotic side in a fun red skort from Giant Tiger. I added a white tank from H&M and my linen Cardigan. But the piece de resistance has to be the maple leaf Tom style shoes. how cute are these?

We LOVE Canada! My hubby is a HUGE hockey fan and we’ve been to Toronto for the World Cup once and then into Victoria on a cruise. We hope to spend much more time there now that he is retired. Wishing you a fun-filled day! O Canada!

Linda, your outfit is perfect for holiday. Those maple leaf shoes are adorable! My mom was Canadian, and I like to think your holiday is a bit of mine as well! And yes, it is sad that our kids won’t have the same freedoms. All we can do is be hopeful that their generation does a better job than ours, right? Enjoy the holiday weekend.

Have a great three day weekend. It is sad how much has change over the years. With all the bad and crazy things happening in the world.
