If you have been around then you know how much I love my table settings. Creating the perfect “scape” from napkins to place card holders. Everything tied into a fun theme. For Christmas this year and a new unique table I decided I needed a homemade place card. These sweet Candy Cane Place Card Holders were the perfect accent.
Such a fun and easy craft. Plus hello what else do you do with the overabundance of candy canes left over from last year. What I am the only crazy that seems to pack away the “canes” with the ornaments?
Candy Cane Place Card Holders
Holders for the holidays and not just for your table. These sweet holders made an appearance on my Hot Cocoa Bar as well. An inexpensive and attractive way of labelling everything. And yes I do love to label.
The Candy Cane Place Card Holders were made for pennies. No I am serious, I purchased glue sticks at the dollar store, candy canes were free. Well free to me because I had them on hand. You can find them anywhere for a very inexpensive price. Remember you don’t need designer canes for this craft because you are NOT going to eat them.
What you will need for the Holders
Gather the supplies is pretty straightforward
- three candy canes per holder
- hot glue
- glue gun
How to make the Candy Cane Holders
- Match up three candy canes so they are the same size. Trust me there are different sizes in every box
- plug in your glue gun and let it heat up
- place a strip of hot glue along the side of one cane
- attach the second cane at a slight angle
- add a strip of glue down the seam of the two candy canes
- attach the third cane
- make sure they are level or your candy cane place holder will not stand up
- place on table and insert a name tag
- watch everyone admire your handy work
tip try a cool glue gun if you want the kids to help out. Also I did not shellac or varnish as they will be disposed of after the holidays.
