It’s the start of a new workweek and well, summer has still not appeared. We had a wonderfully busy weekend but I would have enjoyed it far more in 80 degrees. Let’s start the week in some Checks and Stripes and pray for sunny ways my friend,
What a sad, sad state of affairs, long sleeve shirt, cardigan and long pants at the beginning of June. Where oh where are you Mr Summer. Rain and cold has made it a miserable spring. Time for a little summer so I went plat shopping on the weekend. Then the rain came again so no backyard pictures yet.
The weekend started with a bang on Friday. An interesting visit to the Irish Ambassador’s Residence to learn about trade possibilities. Such a stunning residence and I can’t wait to share all of the lovelies wares are available for consumption in North America. Faerie Doors and Worry Stones, Creams and lotions, Scarfs, bowties and hats. Plus a whole line of Sunless Tanning Oils, and so much more. I promise to help you explore all the possibilities.
Doors Open Ottawa
Doors Open Ottawa was also happening and we went exploring. I mentioned last week I had a few wishes on my list, so we started at the Embassy of Hungary. I have always wanted to see the inside of the embassy and it did not disappoint. Such a beautiful piece of architecture with a rich history. A post dedicated to each of the places we visited will be coming soon ( Hungary, Czech, St John’s and Scientology). The coolest thing of all was discovering that Kent can actually apply for a Hungarian passport as he is third generation. ( His Grandparents came to Canada from Hungary and as a result he is entitled to dual citizenship. The process can take a year but it’s something we will be looking into.
Next up was a return for me to the Czech Embassy and then we also hit the Church of Scientology and St John Anglican Church, All four building are heritage sites and truly worth seeing.
A few stops into some new shops or at least new to us. The Pot & Pantry and Boogie and Birdie both on Elgin and close to my office. We picked up a few delights and specialty items. I found a Pink Flamingo Watering can but Kent said no. Maybe I have become a little obsessive about Flamingos. Soaps, caramels, beard shampoo, bitters, fancy cups and pretty cards. So much to describe to you but I think maybe I shall take you on a visit (soon).
Food and Dinners
I have a few recipes to share too, braised short ribs and shredded chicken. Kent was busy cooking while I was planting.
Wearing a favourite pattern crazy outfit. I love my checks and stripes from Forever 21. I wore this not long ago at CMW but it was covered by a jacket and oh yea, it was raining. What a surprise LOL
