The holiday season is almost upon us, the sights, the sounds and yes even the smells. Let me help you fill your home with the scents of the season with my Christmas Potpourri. The delightful scents of the season are also serving as a pretty decoration in your kitchen when stored in lovely jars.

Christmas Potpourri

I have mentioned it before, the beauty of the holidays is you can improvise and create your own unique decorations and crafts. Turning the simplest of items into the prettiest ornaments or decorations, or maybe even gifts.

Christmas scents or Christmas gifts, this is the perfect option. The gift that keeps on giving when when empties the contents into a pot and let it start simmering.

Ingredients for my Potpourri

The scents of the season can be created with all that we currently have in our cupboards. Plus maybe a few items from the fridge. Isn’t it amazing how the combination of several non traditional holiday scents can create perfect Christmas Potpourri. Lemons and grapefruit may not be the first item you grab but they sure do help.

  • 1 Pink Grapefruit
  • 1 Blood Orange
  • 1 Red Apple
  • 1 Lemon
  • 1/2 Cup Cranberries
  • Pine Tree Branches
  • 2-3 Cinnamon Sticks

How to make Christmas Potpourri

This Christmas Potpourri simmering away on the stove will have you singing carols all day. Making Christmas wrapping or decking the halls so much more exciting with the scents of the season wafting around us.

  1. Fill a pot half way with water.
  2. Combine all ingredients into the pot.
  3. Bring the pot to a boil then turn down the heat &  let the liquid evaporate into your house.
  4. Contents can be cooled down and stored in a container to be re-used one more time within a few days.
