We are about to start another summer of let’s try anything.  But this summer is shaping up to be a far different one than the last two. Thankfully right? Travel and making plans is back on the table and we are ready to explore, sample and try new things. But before we go crazy lets go classic, sharing a Classic Hurricane Cocktail to kick off the summer season.

Hurricane and Summer Cocktails

First of all true confession I am fascinated with pretty, colourful drinks.  If you ever check my Instagram while I am on vacation, it is filled with pretty drink pictures. I actually order different cocktails strictly to get a picture, and then of course I drink it. Also before I forget, if you aren’t on my Insta, please go take a look and a follow.  Doesn’t hurt to ask right?

Nothing like a little self promotion as we sample cocktails. But back on track to why we are here, classic summer cocktails of course. Sometimes I want the bright and colourful mixes and then we go classic ( but never basic). The Classic Hurricane is a staple. A drink you can never go wrong with.

Lets get Ready to Shake and Make

This is a pretty standard, pour and stir cocktail. I have occasionally upped my game and made a crushed version of the Classic Hurricane Cocktail, perfect for those hot steamy days.

  1. Fill a hurricane glass with ice cubes. ( or for a cruched version throw the ice in a blender)
  2. Pour in the coconut rum & triple sec.
  3. Top off with pineapple juice.
  4. Add the grenadine. To create a layered look, slowly pour the grenadine into the glass from the side of the glass.
  5. Garnish with pineapple slices & cherries.
  6. Cheers!
