Epcot was a great day just not a great park, at least for this family. Honestly we had the perfect day. Temperature was amazing, imagine 86 degrees in January. Company, well could not have been better. On a memory scale we had a great family day but for value on the dollar not so much. Not to always dwell on the negative I thought we would dissect our day and the Park. Let’s see what we loved about Epcot and what we didn’t like. Plus how could this have been made better.
Epcot the Good
the five good for Epcot
- clean park
- cool beer
- margaritas in Mexico
- original concept
- world pavilions
The Park was clean and there were some really fun beers. OK there was a bit more good than that. Let’s not discount the Margaritas and Tacos in Mexico. Probably the highlight of our trip around the world. So darn it how did I miss out on pictures of either?
Beer sampling at each of the Pavilions was a fun way to spend the day, we started out with Canada.
Beer sampling at the Pub in the UK.
an awesome Blood Orange Wheat Ale in the US of A
Beer in Japan
and the list went on.
The Good Continued with World Pavilions at Epcot
The concept of the Pavilions is great. Learning about the various countries around the world each staffed with citizens of that country. Discovering new cultures, new food and new lands is always a positive. Plus spending time with Family well always a plus
What’s Bad at Epcot
What’s Bad at Epcot
- out of date
- pricing of beer
- the rides
- the lines
- the value
What’s really bad is the Park has been forgotten. What started as an amazing concept in 1982 needs to be updated. The 360 films in Canada and China are an amazing concept, as is the 180 in France. Hello folks, we no longer dress like that in Canada. Good lord the footage in the films has not changed since the park opened.
I promise you real Canadian curlers do not look like those in the film. Another bad fact red phone booths, FYI they have those in Europe maybe, not in Canada.
I am not sure about the other pavilions but I am pretty sure French women do not dress like that anymore. With all the film crews available at Disney’s fingertips you would think modern footage could be found. I would love to see current footage and maybe some up to date additions around the world.
What’s Ugly at Epcot
- Surge pricing for the holidays
- alcohol priced higher than anywhere else
- passports needed for those under 30 to drink (honestly who carries a passport to a theme park)
- no value for such a high entrance fee
- the park that Disney Forgot
All that aside what would I change to make it better
What to Change at Epcot
- reduce or even eliminate an entrance fee
- offer small samples of the food and or drink if you are going to charge
- update the films at each pavilion
- have a drink/food passport for adults to sample
- update the rides
