Fall Tablescape with Rose Napkins

Kent’s Birthday is always a fabulous occasion and then when it is over it signals the beginning of Fall. A time to slowly start changing my house theme over to one that embraces the smell of pumpkins and spice, a world of rich colour and glorious scents. Today I am transforming my table to a Fall Tablescape with a Rose Napkin Fold.

Fall Tablescape in Plaid
For me, Fall starts with the table, it will be the first hint when you walk into my home.Take a glance into the dining room, check out my table and that will tell you if I have begun the seasonal transition. Then of course it slowly starts spreading through the house.
Tablecloths, chargers, dishes, it all blends together to celebrate the season. For 2016 I am starting with the plaid tablecloth and decided to add my Nana’s silverware. Why keep this stuff packed away. memories are more than knowing you have something, its the actual using that brings the memories front and center.
Do you really think that they created the silverware to stay in a box, or for the china to stay in a cabinet? No, they were made to be used and admired and cherished. Cherished does not mean boxed away, it means use , love and care for.
The napkins on my table are little roses that I discovered on pinterest. Such a quick and easy DIY and one I sharing with you on video, WTH, I know how crazy of me. Be kind its my first real vlog post.

Back top the Fall Table
My table always starts with the base. The selection of the tablecloth will guide the selection of everything else. Figuring out what charger to use, what napkins, they all start with the cloth. Today’s fun fall plaid allows so many fabulous options, or even a kaleidoscope of colour.
I found these beautiful leaf plates at The Christmas Shoppe in North Conway a few years ago and I adore them. I know they had to be utilized for the first fall scape I was creating. Truly the perfect accent. The tablecloth encouraged me to branch out with the salad plates and also the dinner plates. I have a set of stoneware that is matched but mismatched. The same pattern but 4 different colours, and they worked perfectly.
The Chalk board easels are of my own creation, inspirational wine quotes on each and of course wine bottle candle holders completing the theme.
My wine bottle salt and pepper shakers ( I inherited my Nana’s love of S&P shakers) are a Cracker Barrel find, as are the owl and acorn later in the post. Cracker barrel has the best S&P shakers, affordable and so many selections for any holiday or season. I have amassed quite the collection.
It All starts with the Charger
And let’s not forget, chargers are a must on any table. They help preserve your cloth while setting a pretty palette. We all have that guest, you know who I mean, the one that splatters and spills. A charger will help offset most of the damage.
Creating the Perfect napkin Rose
I know I shared the video earlier but lets see if I can walk you through the process quickly. You will need a set of linen napkins, well cloth works no matter the material.
- lay the napkin flat and facing you in a diamond pattern
- take the top tip of the diamond and fold it towards the middle
- take the bottom tip and fold it so it meets in the middle
- You should have two flat ends, your shape should be a square with a triangle on the left and right
- taking the bottom edge start rolling the napkin
- your napkin should look like a straight line
- taking one end start rolling the napkin until you have about an inch remaining, a little tail
- tuck the tail into the bottom of the napkin circles
- You now have a rose bud napkin
Instructions

Thanks for your post! I have got to try this. Roses are my favorite flower because the configuration of the petals are so elegant. These will be great for March 2017, when the live-action version of Disney's animated 'Beauty and The Beast' hits theaters!
