I am a blogger over 40, heck I am actually over 50. A fact that I am pretty darn proud of. Know what I am not proud of? How hard it is to find bloggers over 40, 50 or even 60. It is darn hard. Truth be told try googling Canadian Fashion Bloggers over 40 or 50, I know three and that includes me. I do know a lot of awesome Canadian Bloggers though.
So help a girl out, if you know someone put their link in the comments please. So back to bloggers and for today Fashion Bloggers over 40, I thought it would be a good day to revisit my blogger list. I shared my fav bloggers over 40 and even 0ver 30 back in 2015. Luckily most of them are still blogging but I have discovered a few other awesome ladies since then. FYI on my blog I feel safe calling them ladies, IRL I would have to say women.
Fashion Bloggers over 40
Let’s start looking at the bloggers who style I admire and who’s blogs I love to visit. Each of my eight have a very unique style and often share more than that on their blogs. A love of fashion, food and home is usually a common thread. I have been following most of this group for a few years now and honestly each of them is not such stylish but kind and caring. They are bloggers we should all emulate, sharing not just their passion for what they wear but a love of community. They always take the time to add a comment, share a post and overall just make you feel like you are actually being heard and read.
so without any further delay my 8 Fashion Bloggers over 40 you should follow. ( truth be told I wanted to go over 50 but I am not sure all of these awesome women have hit the magic age yet, many are close)
Northwest Mountain Living
Cheryl, from Northwest Mountain Living has an amazing sense of style, a stunning home and a closet I would kill for. She tells us she always loved fashion, home decorating, cooking, anything to do with the great outdoors and wine. She started running in her mid forties and continue to run to this day because it is her form of meditation. Hailing from Idaho this is a lady I know I would love the share a glass of wine or two with
J Touch of Style
Jodie of J Touch of Style (the 50+ model) loves blogging with her mother, Charlotte, (the 70+ model) and her stepmom, Nancy, (the 60+ model), They show how style is ageless. They are real women styling real clothes!! I have been following Jodie and her Mom’s for a long time and I adore not just their style but their sense of fun while blogging. Jodie is also one of the movers and shakers behind the Fierce 50 movement. Jodie is also first to comment and share a kind thought on your blog or Instagram. I adore her sense of flair, another blogger I wish I could meet in real life.
A Pocketful of Polka Dots
Jennie the 48 year old frugal fashionista behind A Pocketful of Polka Dots! Mom to two wonderful (and handsome!) sons ( just like me) and one spoiled granddog. After spending most of her life in boring clothes, she is now enjoying trying new trends, a confessed shoeaholic who believe life is too short for boring hair, and never met a polka dot she didn’t like. An avid photographer, just look at her photos, , reader of Jane Austen, Paleo/Primal enthusiast, and lover of DIY. A woman a can so relate to.
High Latitude Style
Nicole from High Latitude Style hails from Alaska. Nicole is 55, married, one cat, no kids, a fashion, dance and science enthusiast from Fairbanks, Alaska. She is the CEO and blogger of the award winning blog High Latitude Style and the author of the fashion and style book How to Dress for Success in Midlife. I love Nicoles style and sense of community. Plus just when I think I have it rough taking outfit pictures daily I head over to her blo, lol. One of these days when I head to the Yukon I am going to get a chance to cross the border and say hi, I mean it’s only ten hours right?
Fashion Should be Fun
Dawn Lucy who blogs over at Fashion Should be Fun has a great start her blog story that I think most of us can relate to. In my 40’s, I felt like I was in a bit of a style slump and I turned to style blogs to help me find my inspiration again. I was a bit discouraged with some of the judgmental voices I found online, some giving a strict lists of do’s and don’ts and others making me feel like a fashion loser if I didn’t have the an all designer wardrobe. So, I decided to start my own blog.
Fashion Should Be Fun is her talking to us, other middle aged women who are over 40, but not over fashion. We still want to look beautiful and stylish. We still want to have fun with trends. And we don’t need anyone giving us rules, because we’re all different.
Cato in Amerstadam
OK I have to ask this question, who here even knew Carin blogged? I mean we all know her awesome Instagram account right, but her blog? Tis true if you can’t get enough of her on Inst head over to Cato in Amsterdam. Obviously this stylish blogger hails from Amsterdam and has a love for fun vibrant fashion. I have closet envy and honestly cannot get enough of her fun pictures. For her fashion means wearing dresses and skirts, lots of colour and fun prints, sometimes with a retro vibe. Accessories are also an obsession of hers ( and mine), She collect shoes and bags (don’t we all?) and tells us she could run a marathon in high heels, if she could run a marathon. I love her style and sense of fun and I wish she wore a size 6 shoe and lived next door
In her off-hours, Sheela writes for and curates a personal blog (yup, this one here, ) which features her views on style, beauty and wellness to propagate female empowerment and self-love. All in the name of unearthing the best version of oneself.
She is a ginormous advocate of the “no such thing as style rules” movement, and perpetually campaigns to debunk societal perceptions of how women “ought” to be dressed (as clearly evidenced from starting Project Sister Act in February 2015 and then creating a collaborative monthly endeavour called The Fab 40s a month later in March 2015). Sheela styles as she writes, honestly she embodies what we all want to be living bold and living large.
Shelbee on Edge
Last but certainly not least is Michele who coincidentally lives quite close. Not a Canadian Blogger but close, those in New York State near the border may as well be Canadian right? I love this gal, her fun sense of style, her total love of community and her big heart. Her blog is her. Shelbee On Edge is her story, how she lives life large. This fun loving gal would be first in line to lend a helping hand. Soon I am going to meet this gal and really get to know the woman behind the blog.
So this is todays list of 8 great Fashion Bloggers over 40. Coupled with my Original list of ten and counting me I now know 19 great bloggers living our Middle years large and proud. Am I missing some great bloggers? I am sure I am, so let’s keep this movement going, hit me up in the comment section with Over 40 and over 50 Fashion Bloggers you are loving.
