Happy Tuesday and can I say what a crazy summer vacation it has been already. I have been busy, busy, busy. Not complaining because I am loving life and all the activities. I do have to thank Ford Canada for loaning me a Ford Focus. I had been invited to several events over the past week that having an extra car has been a blessing. Hello Giant Tiger Grand Opening, the Kin Grand Opening, Mosiac 150.. well I am sure you are starting to understand the crazy schedule I created for myself.
Friday I was invited to the Grand Opening of the new Giant Tiger on Merivale. Normally that would have required I drive Kent to work for 8:00, head back home and then to the opening. Plus a trip back to pick him up after work. Well thanks to my friends at Ford I was tooling around town in my sporty little Focus. I really loved this little car.
It’s got power, and is of course fuel efficient. This luxurious looking sedan is hot, hot, hot in Canada. My favourite part is the technology.(most not available in my 2011 vehicle) Standard Intelligent Access with push-button start; who needs keys when you have a button. The blind spot info and lane keeping systems make driving easier by showing you when you are too close to an object (like the curb or another vehicle), the rear camera makes backing out less stressful with lines showing you your safe zone right on the screen. It’s amazing what Ford has put into their cars over the years!
Cruisin to the Tunes
Another great feature was the SYNC®3 technology with Apple CarPlay (or Android Auto if you’re an Android) which allows you to connect your phone to the car and use voice (or touch screen) activated navigation to interact with the car! We could receive phone calls, text messages show up on the screen with the option to have them read to you, find out where the best routes were avoiding construction or road closures, ask for the nearest gas station or Shopping Mall, need a coffee well it will find the closest Timmy’s. The best part, access to my favourite Spotify playlist! Kent created a perfect Bluesfest Playlist for me so it was great listening to Gary Clark Jr and all the other awesome acts as we prepped for the fest. ( Did I mention we are heading to Bluesfest from the 12-16th, the second half of the ten day festival) Woo Hoo…
Back to my GT Opening, how cool is that. I got to explore the store before it was opened to the public, uninterrupted racks of clothes and shelves of homewares. Such a fun experience and amazing something I will get into in greater detail later. In the meantime I tried to figure out what to wear? Hmmm, made sense to represent right? Rediscovered this Maxi I picked up years ago from Giant Tiger as well as the braided wedges. The perfect outfit for a store opening. Comfortable and stylish and so very GT.

Overall, we had a great time with the 2017 Ford Focus Titanium; it’s powerful, fun, and quite luxurious for a smaller car. This is the perfect car for a couple, be it a new couple starting out or a couple older dudes like us. Give it a test run you will not be disappointed.
