I have never been a lover of the winter months and not all of my ill feelings are based on the outside temperature. That may seem a huge surprise to most of you I realize. My comments about the cold and the white stuff are fairly common place. What you may not realize is the irritation I feel in closed work places and homes. The dryness in the air is a major source of discomfort for me.
Closed office environments have caused me to stop wearing my contacts, the dry air and resulting eye discomfort is not worth it. In addition, the itchy dry skin…. all said I really do not like this time of year. Over-dried air can lead to dry skin, sinus problems, dry nasal passages, chapped lips, and other health issues. Over-dried air can also cause flare-ups of psoriasis, if you suffer from that skin condition.
Personally, winter means nose bleeds and really dry irritated skin, to say nothing of the bloodshot eyes. Basically I am hat you might refer to as a hot mess in the winter time.
Humidifiers work to combat dry winter air in your home by emitting moisture. Not all are created alike, however. The benefits of ultrasonic humidifiers range from how unbelievably silent they are to their wonderfully low-maintenance operation.
A real bonus point since they don’t have to rely on heat to create the water vapor (they use ultrasonic vibrations hence the term “ultrasonic humidifier”), they use far less electricity than conventional humidifiers.
Ultrasonic humidifiers are usually much smaller than conventional types, since there’e no need for a heating coil. There’s no wait time, either, since you’re not waiting for a coil to warm up before it boils water.
I ordered the Stadler Form Oskar Evaporatif Humidifier. It was essentially what I refer to as a plug and ply. Open the box, filters were already in place so I just had to place this little baby in the right spot.
It is really simple, you cannot miss the square spot where you place this. The fill with water and turn it on
I was so pleased with the ascetics of the humidifier, seriously it actually matches Kent’s sub woofer. Both are sleek and balanced.
I thought I was going to hate the look of the humidifier on my fireplace, but was willing to suffer if it affected the dry air. Imagine my excitement to get a pretty machine that effectively works. I have been running the machine for two weeks in the family room and I have really noticed a difference. I am actually thinking of taking it to the office to try it out there. ( did I mention it is also available in white and green)
This is not your grandmothers humidifier, it is a sleek accent for any room in your home. Plus as a bonus it banishes the dry air of winter.
