Are you a fan of Charcuterie Boards? I sure am, I actually have a Pinterest board decdicated to all things Charcuterie. Yep I really do. So being the Fan I am it should not surprise you what’s coming next. A Halloween Candy Charcuterie board, because candy, charcuterie and halloween belong together.
Halloween Trick or Treat
Trick or treat has a whole new meaning when you open up the possibilities. 2020 was a strange year and at least here in Ontario it was discouraged. I still wanted a way to celebrate the occasion and provide the neighbourhood children with a bit of normalcy.
I stumbled upon the concept of upscaling or “de-adulting” a traditional charcuterie and had an aha moment. Could I make a fun board for the neighbours and drop it off to them. The concept was simple, make it seasonal and use all candies that were prewrapped. Safety first of course. I would trick or treat by leaving candy not asking for candy.
Creating a Kids Charcuterie
The details of what would go on the tray were easy, the question I had was what would I use. I had a few large plastic party trays from Dollarama but they were summer colours, so not really what I had in mind. Probem solved with a can of spray chalk paint and chalk markers. Lets paint it black and spread the cheer. Joyeuxse Halloween or Happy Halloween.
and then came the treats. Lets grab all the Halloween Candy we can find and make it a feast to remember.
What you will need for the Board
Halloween Candy Charcuterie is like an chacuterie, fill it wth what you love or crave. The board is personalized to you. Remember there is no right or wrong when creating treats,

How to make a Halloween Candy Charcuterie
Making the tray was easy once I got going. The key is creating balance and a fun collage of treats. I wanted this one as kid friendly as possible, so no additional dishes, just straight up candy and treats. A Halloween Candy Charcuterie for a very non traditional Halloween.
- Spray paint the large plastic tray with Chalk paint and set aside to dry.
- gather your candy and treats together and plan how you want the tray to look
- Once the dish is dry add a special message to the sides and start filling by alternating the treats.

- add a few Halloween effects and then deliver the surprise
- sit back and watch the joy on their faces as they realize Halloween just happened on their own doorstep.
