Health and beauty really do have a connection between them. Even when you’re living with a chronic illness, the more you do to take care of yourself, even if it’s only the little things, the more it’s going to show on your face and in your energy levels. We’re all beautiful in our own way, but when you feel healthy, you’re going to feel beautiful right down to your core.
So when it comes to changing your appearance, and being truly happy with the way you look in the mirror, it might be worth it to focus on your health and how you’re taking care of yourself. With that in mind, let’s go through a few areas of general health you might want to think about a little more right now.
The Role of Exercise
Human beings are meant to move, so when you’re locked in an office for 8 or so hours per day, or you’re standing behind a retail counter for the same amount of time, your body could be suffering as a result. Of course, you have little say in the matter, but you do have some off hours before or after work to take this matter into your own hands as much as possible.
If you want to keep up with an exercise routine, you need to find something you enjoy doing. See if there’s a pool near you and take to the water a couple times per week. Or you could always go for a quick jog three times a week, to get your heart pounding and your blood flowing, and giving your skin a healthy glow as a result.
When you’re working on your core strength, and you’re working on making your skin look fuller and fitter, you’re going to be looking amazing in both the mirror and to the outside world!
Taking Care of Your Teeth
Your teeth are a big part of your smile; when we reflexively smile, without feeling the need to hide anything, they’re what show up big and bright, and being able to smile without shame should be something society at large focuses on a bit more!
However, when you’re healthy and feel healthy, there’s a good chance your teeth are well taken care of, even if they’re off colour or a bit crooked. It doesn’t matter, because you brush and floss regularly, and you smile with all the natural energy you’re supposed to have.
But if you feel the need to, teeth are one of the easiest areas of your body to work on. For most people, this means turning to teeth whitening products to give your mouth a little more of a shine, and there’s plenty of at home kits to rely on these days. One such option is Advance Whitening, so if you’ve got some time in the bathroom in the mornings or evenings, you could always open up one of these and put it to good use.
Sleeping Properly
If you can sleep on a rhythm that suits your brain and body, it’s going to show on your face and in your skin. Because sleep is one of the main things you need, from a purely medical viewpoint, and the more quality kip you get, the better!
Do you know what a lack of sleep can do to your appearance? It can make your eyes puffy and dark, and it can make your skin look sunken and sallow. And when you look at yourself in the mirror, you won’t be able to help but notice these things.
It’s why a good 8 hours every single night, with plenty of deep REM sleep, is so important for your health. You heal when asleep, and you restore your energy, and your brain takes a break from the troubles of the world. When you’re getting enough of it, it’s going to show in the way you look, the way you act, and the way you feel.
Drinking for Your Skin
And finally, if you want your skin to really glow, and look as smooth as possible, you’re going to need to get hydrated! Every person has a different water intake need, based on height, weight, and lifestyle, but waking up with a glass every morning (and drinking it before doing anything else) might just make sure those spots on your forehead disappear!
Health and beauty are connected. Make sure you’re taking care of yourself before you make any judgements about the way you look!

Nice article Linda! I so agree that these are all factors for better health. I have been walking more during this pandemic, and am glad I have weights and a treadmill at home as winter approaches. I look forward to a good night’s sleep! SO true with a chronic illness. One’s happiness shows. When I was feeling my worst, and not diagnosed I was dressing in black all of the time, didn’t wear makeup etc. It showed how I was feeling internally.
Have a Happy Halloween
