Well I finally got to check off a bucket list item. I am attending the Mom 2.0 Summit but it is not in LA. Covid sure has changed our world but not all is a negative. OK before you snap my head off over that statement let me explain. Although stuck at home with no travel to the US available we still get to explore the world. But how do you dress for the Mom 2.0 Summit in 2020?
MOM 2.0 Conference
It actually has been a bucket list item, attending this conference and learning from some of the best out there. But a gal has to be practical and the blog is not generating enough to justify the cost of the conference and the travel expenses.
Now I know many of you might say the cost is worth it, no amount is to great, I have said that to myself but…. there has to be some restrictions. My learning is still a closer to home and on line until I feel like I have hit the big times. And by big times I mean actually getting accepted by an Ad Company to generate a steady stream of moola. We all have our priorities right?
My views have not kept pace the way they should based on content so as soon as that happens this gal will be Blog Traveling. In the meantime, Covid happened and conferences went Virtual. Woohoo for Me. Mom 2.0 is happening right now in my basement and I am embracing the experience. Took the week off IRL work so I could savour every moment.
How to Embrace the Experience of Virtual
Truly by now many of us are tired of zoom, skype, teams even facetime. Am I the only one feeling camera fatique for everyday conversations? I didn’t think so.
So the idea of a virtual experience was slightly daunting but I used the time to redirect my thoughts. Stop thinking of this as a virtual experience, normalize the event. How would I prepare for an in person agenda. Well let’s get reading of course, searching for how to prep posts, check the schedule, figure out my workshops.
I down loaded the app, I searched the schedule and I started planning my day. Truth be told I probably changed the schedule three times. Small tip- all sessions have been recorded and are available immediately ( at least the first day). Well freedom 55 at its best I just went on and viewed all the other sessions after hours. Trylu immersing myself in the experience.
Bonus- I have three monitors so as I am watching the session I am multi tasking, tweeting on one screen , searching the speakers instagram and blogs on another screen. Gosh yesterday I even created a Twitter list for MOm2.0 attendees ( follow me or the list for an easy recap @cassidl)
Pre-Conference Prep Mom 2.0
One massive difference no packing a suitcase and having wardrobe angst. I embrace the weather and how I feel and got comfortable. I did not have to worry about what shoes to bring or what necklaces. There was no what will everyone else be wearing angst.
Honestly I wore what I loved and if I thought someone else looked spectacular on Zoom I could run and change. OK kidding sort of, it is fun seeing at home Covid style though. For this “shoe Gal” I always used someones shoes as a conversation starter but I can’t see feet this week. I think we should all have shoes on our desks to pretend we are IRL.
My conference style for day one was Shein and a comfy Tee Dress and awesome Rainbow sweater. The ever present converse completed the look. Today, well check my stroies H&M and a fun sundress because the sun is shining ( and adidas for comnfort because my heels and suits are packed away.
Are you at Mom 2.0? stop over and say hi, I am the one creeping everyone in the Live Lounge.
