Let’s talk bows shall we. The crowning glory of any project ot parcel. Honestly Christmas parcels, birthday presents even housewarming gifts, made all the more beautiful with a bow. From loopy elaborate to a simple bowtie, gorgeous in its simplicity.
A bow can elevate even the plainest of packing. I use to make big fancy bows, heck I even had a bow maker to assist me but sometime time gets in the way. Today I want to walk you through a simple and easy bow with the oomph factor you want.
My Simple Bow made Easy
A little bit of Ribbon, a pair of scissors and some imagination that is all wou will need. True confession I do love ribbon and pick it up frequently to have on hand. My simple bow today is all about grabbing your ribbons and creating something unique to you and your project.
Starting with the base which should be a more neutral colour or your theme colour. This should be the sturdiest fabric so today I started with a chevron burlap. I precut the ribbon pieces slightly shorter than my base ribbon. Six inches was a good guage for me.
The base is created by crossing the two base ribbons creating an x pattern. Cut strips of ribbon and continue this process until you feel like you have used as much ribbon as you desire! Mix and match fun colors and designs.
Stacking the additional ribbons in the same pattern until you have a bow base the size you prefer.
I do not use two of each ribbon as I am building, notice the orange and leopard, I only used one strand each. This creates a prettier bow ( in my opinion). Remember it is supposed to be fun to make your bow and there is no wrong pattern, shape or colour.
Let creativity rein. I like to mix thick, thin, different designs, plain. It gives your bow more fun layers or texture.
I keep my thinnest ribbon to tie the pieces together.
Turn the ribbons over and tie the final ribbon. Tie this tightly as it will hold all the ribbons together to form your final BOW. Make sure this ribbon has a long enough tail to use as a tie.
Turn the ribbons back over and fluff and shape the sides. Attach to your project or package.
