Are OTK Boots still a thing in 2023? In my world they are and according to current stocks in Stores they aren’t going away soon. Let’s deal with the elephant in the room shall we, I am not talking Pretty Woman style OTK looks, although she looked awesome just not the look I am going for.
Worn appropriately OTK Boots can be an everyday staple and even take you to the office. no seriously the can be office appropriate even when not working at home.

I am Over 50 and I wear OTK Boots
There I said it and I am actually very proud of that fact. OTK boots might actually be my favourite style especially in Fall and Winter. Remember I live in Canada and an OTK Boot adds an additional layer of warmth, plus looks great.
I am not a fan of a high heel OTK boot but that is a personal preference and you should always “do you”. If you can carry off the heel then my advice is go for it. My preference is the practicality of a low ot flat heel.
- Try block heels over a stiletto or maybe try a flat heel
- Style black boots with black tights, it’s still classic!
- Try slouchy boots for 2023
- Show a little skin between the top of the boot and your dress/skirt
- Wear with thigh-high socks for comfort and warmth
- Pick a dress or skirt with a short hemline. Pair this with heels or an ankle boot instead.
- Buy a round-toe boot. a Square toe seems to be this years hit
- Pair thigh-high boots with a midi skirt.
What to Wear with an OTK Boot when you are Over 50
Remembering we are not trying to compete with Pretty Woman here, how do we actually style the boots? That is the biggest question and quite simple there are so many fun ways I think it will shock you. So staying away from the Don’ts like mini skirts and OTK Boots what is my style?
Stick with what makes you comfortable and makes you feel good. Ranging from Dresses to skirts to even jeans anything can go. Lets check out a few fun stylings:
Sweater Dress with a Boot
A fun sweater dress is the perfect look with the OTK Boot. If you look at the overall look, I kept to a mid length sweater with a little bit of leg still showing. Showing leg can also mean showing the covered leg. This is cute and fashionable. Plus a sweater dress is a wardrobe essential in the winter.
You could also try a contrasting colour boot, maybe a brown or grey to add a different look.
A Simple Bamboo Dress with Over the Knee Boots
Pairing a simple LBD with a contrasting pair of Over the Knee Boots will always be a hit. Try throwing a fun moto over top to complete the look.
Today I paired a pair of brown suede OTK with the black Bamboo tunic. Classic and simple.

Monochromatic Looks with OTK
Pairing a matching tunic sweater, leggings and boots all in the same colour creates the perfect monochromatic look. Remember Mono does not have to be boring, it can be colourful and create a fun visual effect.
Keeping to the same colour family elongates the leg and makes you look taller. The perfect pair og Burgundy OTK from Shoe Dazzle paired with a fun tunic from Marshall’s.
Floral Dress / Long Cardigan / OTK Boot

OTK boots go great with a cute floral dress. Add a long sweater and to match the colour of your boots!

Floral Skirt with Boots
A cute floral skirt is another fall and winter essential, and it looks great styled with over-the-knee boots. This look was perfect for an afternoon of shopping, a dinner date and yes it even took me to the office.
It is also a great way to take a summer skirt and extend the wear for all seasons.
Are there any Limits to OTK Boot Styling
Honestly I could keep sharing the looks I have worn over the years but I think you get the idea. OTK Boots are as practical as a bootie, a sneaker or a ballerina shoe. The only limits are what is in your closet and what makes you feel great.
