DIY Flip Flop Wreath

It was a fantastic long weekend and it just may have involved a little backyard redecorating and a few fun crafts. I have made flip flop wreaths in the past and even shared a fun tutorial.

This weekend I was inspired by my own outfit to create a new updated fip flop wreath to share. Actually I may have created two new styles lol.

Outfit Inspiration leads to Crafting

On my quest to update my post I debated deleting all of the outfit shots.  Gasp, who ever would have expected me to pivot so far away from daily outfits on the blog. I gues it is true we all evolve and grow and today I am demonstrating true Life and Style blogging. 

A fun sundress and simple flip flops are the perfect backyard accessories ( and maybe a Fedora). I live in swimsuits and sun dresses in the summer time, especially a summer like the one we are having.

 An outfit not just perfect for poolside but also perfect for quick crafting.

Flip Flop Wreath Creation

 

I loved my flip flop wreath but after a summer on the fence it started to show a bit of wear and tear.  I figured now was the time to snap up a bunch of flip flops in all sizes and colours and re-create my favourite wreath.  

 

Plus my fence seemed kind of blah and I wanted to spice it up.  I started with my tin filled with sandals and started randomly fitting them together.

What will I need for my Wreath

The supplies are minimal and can all be found at Dollarama, Dollar Tree or even Dollar General. Being “general” as it will depend on what your favourite inexpensive store is.  You can also try Micheals or Walmart etc but the flip flops are a tad more expensive. 

1. 7 Pairs of flip flops- various colours and even sizes
2. Glue gun and glue sticks
3. sunglasses
4. fake flowers

 

  add a few fun flowers , a lei and sunglasses and I was set to go

 

 This year I thought I would try some bright coloured felt as a backing and I also decided to go with two wreaths a straight line and the standard circle.

 

How Do I make a Flip Flop Wreath

You can see the heel and toe concept illustrated clearly in my first wreath,  I used hot glue and glued the toes together and then as I add a layer not only do I glue each sandal to the one beside it but also to the one it is resting on.

 

• After I have created my perfect circle and I am happy with the look, I add layers ( again alternating toes together, heels together)
• I, then glue one pair to the center of the wreath as an anchor piece and finally add a pair of sunglasses, if you were really inventive you could add a small bottle of suntan lotion.
•  I also use one flip flop on the back so that I can use the straps as my hanger.  Quick easy and very inexpensive and it gives you that Let’s go to the Beach kind of feeling every time you look at it.
