Lou’s Winter of Content
Wow it’s been a little bit since Lou and I shared any crafts or even food posts. I mean, honestly it’s been a long winter. She and I have focused a lot on the blog, and the snow but no excuse really. It was not a crafty winter. Well that’s all about to change. Spring has found us, the sun is shining, the birds are chirping and Lou wants to watch it all unfold. She sure does love street gazing and I know that has nothing to do with chipmunks and squirrels.
Lou loves Crafts, Sun and A Window Ledge
Today we thought we would walk you through how easy it is to create the perfect portable Cat Window Ledge Seat. Look at her, she adores her window ledge. The beauty of this one, portability. It means as the sun moves around the house we can move the ledge to different rooms.
Supplies needed:
Wood slab 12′ by 24′ ( or size to your cat)
Flannel cover I found a cat blanket that I used but terry cloth or an old towel also works
Piece of Foam
2 Shelf brackets. I used metal ones that were a 45 degree angle but I also saw the[perfect brackets I wish I could have used. A bit pricier but how awesome wouldn’t these have made this simply stunning. If you want pretty just look around for a bracket that works for you.
2 retaining clips to adhere to window ledge. ( you may need to get creative with this one. I was really lucky and had two in my fastener bucket. I did find something on amazon I think would work too.
Create a Cat Portable Window Ledge
Create the ledge using a wooden slab. You will add foam and a fun cover. In fact you can make a few covers and keep changing it. I used two flannel cat blankets I already had in the house. Lou also loves a terry towel so that could work too. What material does you cat love best? Use that.
You need to attach two clips ( 90 degree angle) on the inside edge of the board. This will be used to attach the shelf to your window ledge. The clips must be metal and must be thin enough to slide between the window ledge.
Next up is screwing the 45 degree angle shelf bracket to the underside of the shelf. Quick tip before fully attaching test the shelf against your window to make sure it is going to sit level. This test will help you determine exactly where the bracket needs to be attached.
Cut the foam to fit the board and attach it to the top of the board. Make sure this is thick enough to cover the screws. Your cat’s comfort is of paramount concern to Lou. The flannel cover can be larger than the board but make sure you create two slots in the flannel to ensure it gets anchored over the retaining clips.
Attach to window and watch your Cat go crazy.
Treat your Cat Right with 9lives®
So know that we have taken care of Lou’s sun bathing I now needed to think breakfast, lunch and dinner and maybe snacks, or even second breakfast. Lou is not a fussy eater at all, she is actually the least finicky cat I have ever known when it comes to cat food. She is not however a big fan of wet food or treats but I keep trying. In my mind I think it’s a special treat and want to spoil her.
I like to change up her food and this month we thought we would try 9Lives®. It is a brand that celebrates and champions cats, all cats as do I so a natural fit. I read somewhere that 9Lives believes my cat and your cat or cats deserve to live well. And that means they are dedicated to ensuring the health and happiness of cats everywhere. Plus who doesn’t remember Morris, I mean if he liked it and it was good enough for him I figured Lou would enjoy trying it too.
9lives and Lou’s experience
Their wet food varieties give cats the choice of tender, meaty morsels with rich gravy, flakes of fish, savory shreds, or ground cat food with flavor and aroma cats can’t resist. We picked up the 9Lives Variety Pack SL (Gravy Favorites) at the Dollar General in Ogdensburg. Lou loves the gravy.
We also picked up the 9Lives Plus Care (Tuna/Egg) and the 9Lives Daily Essentials. Each formula is specifically tailored to meet the nutritional needs of cats in different stages of life, because 9lives believe every cat deserves to live a long and healthy life. A believe shared b Lou and I as well.
Plus Care is specifically geared towards an older cat., as much as Lou is not old she does have a few friends who come to stay who are getting on in years. Ever the perfect Hostess Lou likes being prepared for company. Did you know that a cat’s nutritional needs change. Their food should ensure that they’ll stay well and stay regular. 9Lives Plus Care cat food helps support digestive health and a hearty immune system.
The Daily Essentials provides your cat with the nutrition they need every day in every life stage. 9Lives Daily Essentials cat food delivers nutrition that helps support heart health, clear vision, strong muscles, and healthy skin and coat. Everything we want for Lou.

Morris and his Day of Discovery
Now not trying to go off script here but if you recall I mentioned Morris earlier, who’s Morris you ask? Well when I was growing up we all knew Morris. He was more famous than Garfield. In 1968, Bob Martwick, an animal talent scout discovered an orange tabby with quite the charming personality at the Humane Society in Hinsdale, IL.Morris was so charming at his audition that the art director exclaimed, “He’s the Clark Gable of cats.”
Morris became the official 9Lives spokescat and one of the most famous cats in the world, starring in over 50 commercials, and even appearing in a film with Burt Reynolds. Morris has never forgotten his humble beginnings as a rescue cat. He and 9Lives cat food continue to bring great taste and balanced nutrition to cats around the world. And Morris will not rest until every cat finds a home.
Lou and her furever home
My little Lou, who also has her own catagory on my blog, is more than spunky, she is the picture beside spunky in the Catictionary. She has more attitude in her front paw than other cats have in their whole body. Our little shelter cat has wormed her way into the hearts of everyone in the house and in those who just come to visit. Her presence is felt everywhere she goes.
Lou was also a rescue cat. I went to the Shelter to look at a different cat but Lou would have none of that. She was loud and proud and immediately stole my heart. Like Morris, Lou also believes every home deserves a cat.
