246 A Labour of Fashion linkups and counting. Holy moly where has the time gone.My baby A Labour of Fashion born on January 10, 2015. It started as a fun gathering every Thursday where ya’all could come hang with me for the day. Today I love to think it is still a fun gathering where we all share our current looks, get inspired and maybe even learn a few new tricks and trends
Fashion Linkups over the years
When i created my link up I worried no one would come visit me. At the time there were lots of link ups. Everyday one could link up with 5 to 10 blogs. Your posts would get seen, you got to meet a ton of bloggers and discover cool new trends. Today there are a lot fewer link ups and I wonder why.
Are people no longer joining? Not participating? For me I love the link ups and seeing who joins. The comments people leave but most of all a cool way to discover new blogs. What’s you feeling? Why do you think they have been vanishing?
Lumberjack Chic in Denim
Enough idle chit chat lets talk this uber awesome stylish look. It’s crazy this seems to be Linda’s week of basic casual fashion. Today I went with a fun red plaid shirt from Forever 21 and FYI boots are from there too, but let’s jump over that topic. So sad that this fun store is closing. Where will we all head to for inexpensive fun items?
Underneath the plaid is a fun Canada shirt I found at Old Navy. It creates such a fun look. Adding to the overall casual vibe is a pair of distressed denim from Target. An outfit featuring three of my all time favourite shopping spots. Also thinking this is the perfect outfit to take with me to the Poconos next week, so you may see a repeat performance.

What a cute and comfy outfit! You look so warm! New to fashion link ups. Just thinking about dipping a toe in. I’m a boomer too.
I cohost (I am a new cohost) a link up called Weekend Traffic Jam. It’s not just for fashion, but fashion bloggers are certainly welcome. It occurs on Thursdays starting at 5pm central time. My blog: https://bijoubeadboutique.com

Great look! I love how you paired distressed boyfriend jeans with a tee and plaid shirt!

You can’t go wrong with plaid! I wish I knew about linkups too. Most weeks I don’t even hit 100 anymore on mine, and before I was getting up to 200. I don’t promote it or send reminders though so many that is part of the issue, but I think most new bloggers promote less by linkups and more by pinterest and instagram.

I have noticed the link ups have become less and less popular, especially in the DIY/Crafting area. I really don’t know why, though. I think it does take a lot of time for people to link up to them everyday and maybe they don’t feel they get the return back? I wish I knew the answer. I love this ‘lumberjack’ look on you, such a fun plaid top and I love the looser fit of your denim!

Hi Linda! Those jeans look great! I have a pair of boyfriend jeans from Loft with distressing, are they from there? I love the plaid an dhow you wore the shirt like a jacket with a cute tee underneath.
I host the linkup as you know and it has been steady.. I think there were just more 4-5 yrs ago when I started. I love hosting and participating in linkups as it is a way for me to visit lots of people and I love seeing the fashions. Just keep doing what you enjoy!

I love a flannel with jeans, it’s one of my typical looks in the fall/winter. And I really love your red plaid shirt…the colors are so rich and cozy!

What a great casual look! Love the flannel shirt!
As to the linkups, I’ve been aquainted with them for a long time through my papercrafts. In the past they used to cost less and even be free, but they have went up in price and maybe that’s the reason why there aren’t as many hosts? I love them too and link up whenever I can. Thank you for hosting. I’m new(er) to fashion blogging and fashion linkups, and do enjoy them a lot. About participation … I wonder if it has something to do with more people moving to instagram and less blogging? I love blogging, even though I post to instagram, blogging will always be my favorite.

Linda, I love your chic lumberjack look! So cute. This is my Fall outfit formula nearly every day. A tee shirt and jeans with some kind of topper…a plaid shirt or cardigan. My link party attendance has dwindled as well. I think a lot of the problem is that people aren’t visiting the other links and so when bloggers realize they are taking the time to link but gaining no extra traffic, they stop taking the time to link. Also, I noticed my participation drop way down when I didn’t have the time to visit the links and comment. Now that I am working from home and have time to comment on all the links, I feel like participation is holding steady and possibly even growing slightly. Those are just some of my thoughts on link parties! I still host mine and join others every week! I love them!
