Happy Colonel By Day/New Brunswick Day/Heritage Day/Simcoe Day…. well Happy First Monday in August Civic Holiday Day. Yep that’s right folks for most parts of Canada we are enjoying/celebrating a long weekend. I just wish the weather gods had been informed to make sure it was a sunny and bright celebration. We had a busy weekend with a quick trip to Orillia and Muskoka Lake to watch our boys play. Funny weekend story, driving there Kent was describing the Kee to Bala ( a large Club) and he used the comparison of Dirty Dancing. Well a small irritant occurred later that night and I had one of those “Nobody puts Linda in the Corner moments”. The freedom of being over 50 is not letting those moments affect you nor bother you.
Nobody Puts Linda in a Corner
OK maybe that is a slight overstatement, it must have bothered me if I am still talking about it right? Too True, bothers me but it did not affect me. I did what I wanted/needed to do, moved on and had a blast of a time. Our boys killed it.
The Honest Heart Collective at The Kee to Bala
The Kee to Bala has been a Summer Concert tradition since 1942. I would love to show you the sign affirming that but sadly a had a bad photo moment and they were all blurry oops. I think I do have a few good ones but possibly that deserves a post of its own. The boys received the call on Wednesday offering them the opening slot for The Glorious Sons so it was a no-brainer for them. Hopped in the van Friday night drove from Thunder Bay to the Muskokas. Played a killer show, watched another killer show and then back in the van for the return 13 hour drive. Music is their life and so is travel. We all did have a quick pit stop to what I refer to as the ” Brewery of the Band”.
I will state the venue has the most spectacular deck where everyone can head for a few minutes of fresh air. Imagine listening to your favourite band with this view.
Kent and I spent Saturday night in Orillia at the cutest hotel, Champlain on the Waterfront. It’s been undergoing extensive renovations after a fire and is opened as a “soft opening” at the moment. Lovely spot and I highly recommend it.
Orillia itself I have been too, I do love this little town. Kent and I have decided we will be back to explore This trip was rather rushed and we had no time to visit. We did take a quick walk around the hotel and then in the morning we walked the waterfront. And I love the beautiful maple leafs all over town.
( and more prove that this dress and my skechers are on constant repeat)
Outfit for Travel
Ottawa was sunny when we left on Saturday so I went with my white lace skirt and black Cami. My converse completed the look. All this was preplanned because I always wear my white Honest Heart Collective Tank to shows. I figured the skirt would be fun with the tank but I ended up with the stripped pants cuz the weather did not cooperate.
Packing was a breeze, stick to all coordinated outfits that are good for whatever the weather. I did throw in my Skechers (C/O). And after standing all night at a rock concert, these Flex Appeal were most welcomed in the morning for the trip home.
Normally my bag ends up being filled with my toiletries but not this time. I shared a while ago about the amazing sun screen I had been gifted from Colore Science earlier this summer, well I received a great surprise a short time ago. I got home from work and had a parcel containing the most amazing powdered foundation and corrector palette. Well pretty and useful are a combination I can get behind. Here is my little secret, I use the corrector palette as eye shadow and it works perfectly. I no longer need a ton of make up just these two little packages and I am good to go. The fine brush also lets me use the darker shade as an eye liner.
