no smell test

Earlier this Summer I was contacted to see if I was interested in testing out  No Pong, a Canadian natural deodorant that is 100% paraben, aluminium, cruelty and plastic free.  I also discovered that “Pong” is actually an Australian/British term for an extremely strong, unpleasant smell. I have to confess I was initially hesitant.  It is not something that I have had on my radar to experiment with.

But if ever their was a time to try it was now. Social Distancing is a great time to switch to a natural deodorant. This way I could get through the transition period while not having to be too close to many people. So my experiment began.

trying no pong

Disclaimer:  A Labour of Life was provided a sample to test out but the opinions and reviews are 100% ours.

The No Pong Experiment

While very hesitant, Kent was willing to give it a go at the same time. He used the SPICY CHAI BICARB FREE and I opted for the SPICY CHAI ORIGINAL. The promise was a gender neutral fragrance with a ridiculously effective formula.  How bad could it be right?  I checked out the site, did my research and really liked what I found.  Plus let’s not lessen the value of Canadian Made in our household.

  • Our Original, ridiculously effective, baking soda based formula with a BRAND NEW FRAGRANCE
  • We tested this fragrance on a small production run, and we had people DEMANDING we bring it back, so here it is!
  • This is a gender neutral fragrance made up of woody notes, and just a hint of sugar and spice
  • Keeps you fresh for up to 12 hours, and is completely aluminium, triclosan, and paraben free
  • FREE SHIPPING!  Freshness could not be easier

One thing that No Pong founders Chris and Melanie  have learned is that after using No Pong for a few months, armpits will actually sweat a lot less.  Well that got my attention.  Let’s check it out Fact or fiction?

No Pong Deodarant (5)

Cottage trips and Covid Restrictions

We started small, each of us testing out the deodorant while at home working. Visits and events were not happening so worse case scenario it would be like a no-shower weekend at home.  First baby steps were OK, we didn’t notice any sweating or smells.  BUT it is not like we were over exerting ourselves.  Guess a great test would have been while we were fixing the pool in 40 degree temperatures.

No matter the  test seemed OK, and neither of us were feeling off with the use of a natural deodorant.  Then we got invited to a cottage for the weekend.  Hmmm should we risk it? Of course we should it was a cottage and no one expects perfection while relaxing.

And guess what no smells, or no smelly pits to be more precise.  The deodorant works. Now true confession I still find it weird to use my finger to spread the paste but hey I am getting over it.

the pong success

Would I use it Again this No Pong Deodorant

Well the summer experiment and weekend away was not the end of our journey.  We are still using the natural Deodorant. Would I recommend it?  Yes I would especially for those who have been long term fans of the natural.  This works and that is actually what matters.  Price point is on par, $9.95 canadian but shipping is free.

Plus guess what a subscription club…… I kid you not.

Check out their super convenient Monthly Club.  $1 Sign-up fee gets you started and from just $7.95 / month, including shipping you can get a No Pong tin sent to you each month.  There has never been a more convenient way to stay fresh!
