I know wow, what a transformation that is…. OK just kidding folks I mean doesn’t everyone want to see a gutted bathroom? I know it seems like an easy thing, change the bathroom, seriously how hard is it to pick out a toilet ( harder than you think actually). It took us close to a year to actually find a vanity and sink that we loved and that we thought would suit the space. The only easy decision was the tap ( and that is a story for another day).
Kent and I picked up the vanity, sink, mirror etc in August and figured the remodel would happen in early October. Well plans go awry and between work and waiting for my crown moulding, door and baseboards all of a sudden its December.
I love Crown Moulding in the bathroom, it provides the perfect accent eliminating the need for contrasting paint to create texture. Our powder room is small, 5 by 4 but the ceilings are high so Crown Moulding is the perfect architectural detail to add interest without overwhelming you.
We stripped down and by we I mean Kent and Hawk but hey I can take credit, it was my idea. and then went to work on the paint. Para Paint was my paint of choice, Canadian and great quality. ( picking one colour was tough but we went with a deeper shade then had been on but stayed in the same family. We have tile flooring in the bathroom, Family room, kitchen and Hallway and I really did not want to change all of it yet ( Best choice with an outdoor pool)
The vanity had been tiled around so thank heavens for great friends who know how to expertly tile. Yet another small delay but a project done right. New tiles installed and the door removed. I have to say I am totally in love with my new Metrie Door. Most people may not think a lot about doors but me I have always been fascinated, maybe its living in really old homes but the more detail the happier I am. Metrie made sure the door was made to measure ( its a small doorway) and true confession I have gone in the powder room and closed the door just to admire the look. Its is such a pretty piece.
The crown moulding is being installed on Saturday, we have a friend who does this so we figured why mess with the cuts…. I know I am a bit of a coward but I really want it doneright. ( Stay tuned for the update next week but in the meantime, hope you enjoy)
So one Powder Room done, one full bathroom left to tackle and I know exactly who I will be working with. Thank you Metrie
and for a quick update my Crown Moulding was installed and can we say WOW
