Festivals for food and drink in Ottawa

I have been a festival fan all my life.  Truly does not matter food, music, crafts, drink or any topic you can think of.  Moving to Ontario has truly opened up a whole new world of fun and adventure.  I know it can be overwhelming at times trying to figure out what is actually happening and going on.  To make your life easy I have created a Ten Must See or rather Eat and Drink list for a variety of Ottawa Festivals available locally to you.  Just tag the post or print the post and you have a schedule of events at your fingertips for Summer 2017. Plus check out the 10 Best Music Festivals  or 10 Best International Festivals in Ottawa

Let’s get started shall we. Ottawa is renowned for it’s Food and Drink festivals so let’s explore the ten I have picked for you for this summer. Keep in mind the awesome Poutine fests have come and gone but there are tons more still available( Stay tuned for International Food and Music)

Craft Beer

1)Orleans Craft Beer Festival  June 9-11

They are very HOPpy to announce that the first annual Orléans Craft Beer Festival will take place outdoors at Centrum Plaza in June 2017! The Orléans Craft Beer Festival will bring together craft breweries, local food artisans and some fantastic music to the east end of the city!

Doesn’t matter if you’re a beer aficionado with a great knowledge of the suds, a seasonal beer drinker, or someone who is new to the craft beer scene, you’ll be sure to have a great time at the Orléans Craft Beer Festival! Craft beer not your thing? Don’t worry, they have a wine booth too!  KID FREE ZONE

2)Brewery Market  June 11

The Brewery Market is an event series inspired by the traditional farmers market.

Instead of vegetables and apple pies, their market offers locally-produced craft beer. This means beer that is more than just delicious. It’s made with love by members of our own community. It’s served in a small-scale outdoor setting. They raise money for local charities. Bring your kids, meet your neighbours, and learn about the process of making world-class suds—right here in the Capital region.

Dessert Fest

3)Dessertfest June 9-11

DESSERTFEST 2017 will be all about the most unique desserts, so if you enjoy trying new things and want to do so under one roof, you’ll want to mark June 9th, 10th and 11th (from 11am to 7pm each day) down on your calendar, if you’re in and around Ottawa, and save the date!

rib fest

4)Sparks Street Rib Fest June 14-18

Ottawa’s original Ribfest returns for it’s 25th year!
Ottawa’s favourite food festival comes to Sparks Street June 14th – June 18th! Which ribber will win the belt for the best Ribs, Chicken, and Sauce? Who will be the People’s Choice?
Live music, 11 patios with all of your favourite beverages, and more!

5)Canada’s 150th Fine Wine  June 15

In celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation, the National Capital Sommelier Guild is hosting a special tasting of premium Canadian wines, representing some of the many world-class wines Canada is producing each and every year from our 671 grape-based wineries and 1,700 grape growers/vineyards across Canada.

7) Perth Garlic Festival August 12-13

The purpose of the festival is to promote Ontario grown garlic, share ideas on how to grow, harvest, market, cook and enjoy garlic, to bring together ‘garlic heads’ and producers on an annual basis, to provide a forum for the consumer to purchase Ontario grown garlic, to assist in the ongoing tourism development of the Perth community and to distribute the proceeds (almost $100,000.00 to date) of the festival to worthwhile community initiatives supported by the Lions Club of Perth.

8) Carp Garlic Festival– August 12-13

You will find the vendors selling 86 different varieties of fresh garlic, garlic products such as garlic spreads, garlic dressings, garlic baskets, pottery garlic holders and much much more!

They will have garlic events, demonstrations and information sessions covering anything imaginable to do with garlic by some of the amazing vendors and celebrity chefs

9) Curd Festival August 16-20

The Curd Festival from the St-Albert Cheese Factory offers a diverse program with a variety of activities and live music for the whole family.

10)Whisky Fest October 14

The third edition of Whiskey Ottawa is bringing together more whiskeys under one roof than ever seen before in Ottawa! Your ticket is all-inclusive of your whisky samples and cocktails, as well as many fine foods created by the Chefs of the Canadian War Museum. This amazing third edition event has a “smart casual” dress code, and will be located in the LeBreton Gallery of the Canadian War Museum downtown Ottawa.

Whisky Ottawa is the can’t miss event for both the aficionado & novice alike. Come and meet all of the Whiskey family: Whiskey, Rye, Scotch and Bourbon. The festival will offer you the opportunity to taste whiskies from around the world, as well as learning how to create incredible cocktails using these unique whiskeys.

Are you Salivating yet?  Are you confused over where to go?  Heck don’t be confused try them all.  Hit two Garlics in one day, why not.  Try Beer in both places and then head for dessert.  Live’s too short, hit the dessert first then go for the beer.

This is not a sponsored post but I have used the descriptions and pictures from the applicable sites.  It is time we all got behind Ottawa and our Local businesses and festivals.  Join me in Celebrating #myottawa
