It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas and that mans #uglychristmassweater time. Breaking out the Penguin Christmas Sweater early because 1) I forgot to share it last year and 2) I got it on my fam trip this time last year. The trip we won’t be taking this year because Bangor Maine is still not in our travel plans, border is still closed.
That means no Hobby Lobby, No Target, No TJ Maxx, no Burlington Coat Factory or Governors Bakery or any other fun stores.
Christmas Sweater and Decoration
True confession it feels kind of weird. And you ask what feels weird Linda? Well the fact my house is all decorated knowing full well there will be no visitors. No Open house celebration, no family visits and no neighbours over for drinks. Is it weird that I still went full out. Gosh I even got a new tree. Five trees and counting lol.
Are you still going over the top decorating or planning a scaled down version? I feel better having the house done up pretty. I also am planning extra crafts and of course the baking festivities will begin on the weekend. I am planning to drop plates of cookies off to the neighbours to spread Christmas Cheer.
So Christmas Sweaters and Christmas PJ’s are still a thing to me.
Penguin Christmas Sweater
Let’s talk Penguins shall we. I found this sweater at TJ Maxx last year. Well actually I didn’t find it my sister did. We were on the final day of the Family Christmas trip and she discovered this beauty. Lucky for me, it was not her size. Well being the selfish elder sister I immediately consoled her, aka snapped it from her hands and ran to the cash,
Come’on, all you older sisters totally understand right? We did without and had o put up with the little sis shenanigan’s for ever. Payback is a, well sweet feeling. So kind of kidding but not really. I did grab the sweater from her hands and I did run to the cash because it was perfect, but it was all in good fun.
Styling an Ugly Christmas Sweater
The key to styling an Ugly Christmas Sweater is basic neutrals. Remember you want the sweater to stand out but you don’t want to look like a Christmas tree. Picture this sweater paired with bright pants and big earrings, maybe an aqua shirt underneath.
Have you got that picture in your head, well bet all you can see is the outfit not me right? An outfit should make you standout, it should not shout on it’s own.
My look paired with a fun neutral colour and a black pant helps frame the sweater. What you actually see if a fun gal in a cute sweater, not just the sweater. Find a few pieces to frame the look. Embrace the cute but do not over do it. And show me your Christmas Style.
When the Weather is Frightful
so there ya go, when the weather is frightful time to dress delightful. Oh good lord that sounded awful. But I did realize there was one more thing to remember when styling the sweater. SNOW, cuz with a background of white fluffy snow everything looks amazing. It is the perfect blogger backdrop.

Aw, I love this adorably fun sweater, Linda! And look at all of your beautiful snow! We had some snow last week and I took some snowy photos, too! I definitely toned down the holiday decorations this year mostly because I am just not feeling up to all the work it entails. But I am enjoying the bit we did. It’s all cozy and festive here! Happy holidays, my friend. Thanks for linking with me!
