I am beyond excited with the latest news folks! I am an Orleans Resident and during the recent spring floods we have been worried about the state of Petrie Island. At one point the Island was below the water and we feared all would be lost. Well I just got an email from the Kiwanis Club of Orleans and guess what?
Canada Day celebrations are returning to Petrie Island for 2017 in honour of our nation’s 150th anniversary. Featuring three days of BBQ and beachfront entertainment, Canada D’Eh! Fest offers a full weekend of family fun.
The Kiwanis Club of Orléans and countless community partners have put together a great weekend at the beach, including ongoing live music, family-friendly activities, lots of food and drinks, as well as Orléans’ biggest fireworks show ever. The Orléans School of Rock entertainment lineup features local and national talent, including Orléans’ own Canadian Idol star “Steffi D” and headliner Tribe Royal.
Celebrations begin Friday, June 30th at 4:00pm, continuing through Saturday from 11:00am and conclude Sunday night.
Free shuttle service on Canada Day will depart from Trim & 174 Park and Ride. If you live in Orleans this is a must attend, heck even if you are not in Orleans add it to the list
“We’re thrilled that families and people of all ages are going to be able to celebrate Canada Day island-style again, and in true Canada 150 style, we’re going big. Come enjoy a slice of Canada’s 150th birthday cake, learn about Canada’s cultural tapestry, take part in a flag signing to support our troops, or join a massive flotilla heading from Parliament to Petrie.”
-Canada D’Eh! Fest Chairperson Zybina Richards
“Get ready to party all weekend long with amazing entertainment, sweets and treats from the BBQ, including some Ribfest faves, a craft beer garden and beverage bar, and a beachfront vibe that only Petrie can offer.”
-Les Gagne, Feature Festivals
