Pink Agave on Virgin Voyages: Is It Worth Booking?
When people think of cruise ship Mexican food, they often picture tacos and nachos. I am here to change that thought process. Pink Agave completely changes that perception. They serve Mexican but interior mexican.
Inspired by upscale Mexican cuisine, Pink Agave offers bold flavours, beautiful presentation, and dishes that are both comforting and refined. The atmosphere is intimate and vibrant, making it yet another unique dining experiences aboard Virgin Voyages.
For this sailing aboard the Resilient Lady we sampled a variety of dishes that showcased exactly why Pink Agave has become a favourite among returning sailors.

The Atmosphere
Walking into Pink Agave immediately feels different from the rest of the ship.
Rich navy tones, soft lighting, modern artwork, and sleek décor create a sophisticated space that feels more like an upscale city restaurant than a cruise dining room. Whether you’re enjoying a romantic dinner or dining with friends, the atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between elegant and relaxed.
The open bar, glowing pendant lights, and intimate seating make this one of the most photogenic restaurants onboard. And let’s not forget the fun entryway filled with lights.

Before Dinner
Dinner begins with a complimentary snack featuring warm spiced corn nuts and lightly pickled vegetables.
Simple? Yes.
Addictive? Absolutely.
It’s the perfect way to wake up your palate while you browse the menu and decide between the many tempting options.

Appetizer: Guacamole
Freshly made guacamole served with warm crispy tortillas.
Sometimes the simplest dishes are the hardest to perfect.
The guacamole was incredibly fresh with plenty of avocado flavour while the warm tortillas were light, crisp and far superior to standard tortilla chips. It’s a fantastic starter to share and a great introduction to the bold flavours that follow.
Rating: ★★★★★

Appetizer: Tuna Aguachile
One of the standout dishes of the evening.
Beautiful slices of tuna were paired with cucumber, radish, herbs, and a bright citrus dressing that was refreshing without overpowering the fish.
Every bite tasted incredibly fresh and balanced.
This is an excellent choice if you’re looking for something lighter before moving into the richer entrées.
Rating: ★★★★★

Entrée: Birria Consommé
Served in a deep bowl with tender beef, fresh vegetables, herbs, and vibrant garnishes, this consommé was packed with slow-cooked flavour.
Rich without feeling heavy, it delivered warming spices and incredible depth in every spoonful.
It’s a wonderful option for anyone wanting something comforting while still highlighting authentic Mexican flavours.
Rating: ★★★★★

Enchiladas de Pollo ★★★★★
If you’re looking for classic Mexican comfort food with an elevated presentation, the Enchiladas de Pollo are an excellent choice.
Tender shredded chicken is wrapped in soft corn tortillas and topped with a rich, flavourful sauce that strikes a wonderful balance between smoky, savoury, and mildly spicy. Melted cheese adds a creamy finish, while fresh garnishes brighten the dish and provide a welcome contrast to the richness.
The chicken was moist and well-seasoned, and the tortillas held together beautifully without becoming soggy—a small detail that makes a big difference. Every bite delivered layers of authentic flavour, from the slow-cooked filling to the perfectly balanced sauce.
While some Mexican restaurants overload enchiladas with heavy cheese, Pink Agave takes a more refined approach. The flavours remain the star, allowing the quality of the ingredients to shine through.

Bistec Marinero en Escabeche ★★★★★
Don’t let the simple menu description fool you—this is far more than just a ribeye steak.
The beef is slow-cooked until it’s incredibly tender, with a texture that’s closer to a perfectly braised pot roast than a traditional grilled steak. Each bite practically melts in your mouth, making it one of the most comforting entrées on the menu. Many Virgin Voyages guests have noted the same unexpectedly tender, braised consistency, despite the menu listing it as ribeye.
The steak is topped with creamy melted Oaxaca cheese, adding a rich, buttery layer that complements rather than overpowers the beef. A smoky ancho chile sauce provides gentle warmth without much heat, while the escabeche—a traditional tangy marinade made with vinegar, citrus, and spices—adds a bright acidity that cuts through the richness of the meat and cheese.
The combination of smoky, savoury, creamy, and tangy flavours creates one of the most unique beef dishes we enjoyed aboard Resilient Lady. It feels both rustic and refined, showcasing Mexican flavours in an elevated way that fits perfectly with Pink Agave’s modern approach to regional cuisine.

Dessert: Chocolate Tacos
This dessert is as fun as it is delicious.
Chocolate shells are filled with silky dulce de leche mousse and finished with Mexican chocolate flavours that are rich without becoming overly sweet.
Beautifully presented and incredibly satisfying, it’s a playful ending to an outstanding meal.
If you only order one dessert at Pink Agave, make it this one.

Service
Just like many of Virgin Voyages’ specialty restaurants, the service at Pink Agave was outstanding.
The staff were knowledgeable about the menu, happy to explain unfamiliar dishes, attentive throughout the evening, and paced each course perfectly without making dinner feel rushed.
It felt like dining in a high-end restaurant rather than onboard a cruise ship.

Absolutely.
Whether you’re a fan of authentic Mexican cuisine or simply enjoy trying something different, Pink Agave delivers one of the most creative dining experiences on Virgin Voyages.
The combination of bold flavours, elegant presentation, exceptional service, and beautiful atmosphere makes this an easy recommendation.
