Happy Monday and let’s take a trip back to the future. Or maybe just back to last week. As I was on the road I didn’t get a chance to blog a ton but I did manage to capture some fun looks. Last Sunday when I flew to Yellowknife I wanted to be comfortable yet stylish. What works better than my Prana Scarf and Gentle Fawn Sweater? Well maybe both of those with great boots and a t-shirt dress from H&M right?
Let’s talk Prana for just a moment. Prana was one of the sponsors at TBex in Finger Lakes. They are a company that doesn’t just believe in sustainable clothing, they believe in sustainable lifestyles. I adore their motto “When you reach into your closet, there should be something there that reflects who you are, how you feel, and what you value most. There should be something that you can put on in the morning and confidently wear all day long. Something you can throw in your bag and know will work for whatever your journey brings.” A motto that speaks to me, speaks to what is deep inside of me. I believe everything I own and wear speaks not just to who I am but how I feel and what I value.
Prana The Company
Now first of all, full disclosure this is totally not sponsored but I was given this scarf at the conference. Ironically I never even got to meet with Prana while I was at TBex but their booth caught my eye and their story caught my attention. A company started back in 1992 in Carlsbad California. This amazing couple decided they needed to create a line of clothing that was stylish yet sustainable and guess what they did it!
They sewed the first pieces themselves, labeled them with tags made from homemade recycled paper, and shipped their orders in fruit boxes from local grocery stores. A true grass roots story plus they work with the grass roots. Check out their website and follow their ambassadors through all their adventures.
My Travel Look in Gentle Fawn
So last Sunday was crazy, I was leaving Ottawa and sunny warm temperatures and heading to the North. FYI I knew it had been snowing for a few days and the temperature was going to be a tad bit chilly. I needed layers, warmth but something that looked good. What could be better than the Gentle Fawn Cardigan I found last year in Yellowknife at Ice Blink. Ice Blink is a boutique in Yellowknife that you must visit if you happen to be in town. I could honestly live in that store.
For this trip I realized my Prana scarf matched perfectly and would be the additional layer I needed. Sorry this one is not available on their site but they do have an awesome mulled wine one I think I might need. I opted for Bamboo leggings from LNBF and a grey t-shirt dress from H&M. All of the pieces help with warmth yet are travel worthy, meaning no wrinkles.
I completed the look with my standard Camera necklace and a fun pair of boots. These Grey Shoe Dazzle Boots are stylish yet have the perfect sole for non slip. Made for fall they keep my feet warm in Yellowknife but not overheated in Ottawa.
