Fall, tis the season of Pumpkin Spice isn’t it. I mean honestly can you go anywhere without seeing pumpkin spice something? Carly even picked my up Pumpkin Spice Wheaties for breakfast. The word is a crazy place when one little Gourd can take over the world. I started searching for a Pumpkin Pie Spice Substitute so I would always be prepared.
For me I confess I adore the smell and the taste. 2018 was my year to go homemade though. I decided I wanted to make my own Pumpkin Spice dishes and creations and that would start with Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice. I found the elusive secret to always having the ability to make #PSL with my own spice combination.
Pumpkin Pie Spice Substitute
To start, you’ll need maybe two minutes and the following ingredients: 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon, 2 teaspoons ground ginger, 2 teaspoons ground nutmeg, 1 ½ teaspoons ground allspice and 1 ½ teaspoons ground cloves. Mix the spices together in a small bowl and take a little whiff. (Smells like heaven, right?) Store the mixture in a clean small jar or spice container. See? So easy.
Guess what, you can also purchase your own Pumpkin Pie Spice but what is the fun in that?
What is Pumpkin Pie Spice?
As an FYI it’s an American spice mix commonly used as an ingredient in pumpkin pie. Pumpkin pie spice is similar to the British and Commonwealth mixed spice. And not to be confused with all-spice, although it is part of the mix.
