PetSafe® Canada, has come out with the most advanced litter box that is literally sweeping the pet market for its innovative take on cat waste management. It is the brand’s ScoopFree™ Original Self-Cleaning Litter Box. And Guess who got in on the ground floor? Yep Lou may have just wiggled her way into a sweet little partnership.
The Deal with Non Scoop Litter
The ScoopFree™ Original Self-Cleaning Litter Box is the only self-cleaning litter box that uses disposable litter trays to provide hands-off convenience and a clean, fresh smell. Once the litter tray is plugged in, it is said that pet owners can leave it alone for weeks at a time and enjoy a home that is effortlessly odour free. The automatic rake system sweeps waste into the covered compartment and the specially-designed crystal litter is five times more effective at reducing smells than clay or clumping litters.
Lou’s Review of her Self-Cleaning Litter Box
Well guess what arrived in the mail, a ginormous box and it was not for me. I wasn’t sure initially how Lou would respond. I mean honestly I knew she would love the big ole box but what about the litter? The mail arrived and Lou proved just how finicky she really isn’t.
The instructions were quite clear. Set up the new box near her old one. Add some of the new “litter” in her old box and then wait. They recommended not cleaning the old box and try to slowly force the cat to test out the new system. Well we just practiced setting up the box and Lou was off exploring it already. I was a worried mom for not. I actually had to stop her from using it before I got it set up and plugged in.
The Self Cleaning Scoop Free System
Kent and I opted to set the new box up in the laundry room on the main level so we could monitor Lou. Well honestly folks, this cat had no issues, no worries and no fears. The set up was simple add the litter tray, plug it in and wait.
The waiting period was literally minutes and away she went. Marking her box as her own.
It is an ingenious system, programmed to self rack twenty minutes after the cat has left the box. It will also re-set if the cat returns. I still think Lou gets a bit perplexed when she goes back to check on the box but so far so good. She does get curious and when the rack starts moving she will run in the laundry room to check it out. ( me too actually)
Issues to date
The only concerned we have faced is Lou’s lack of privacy. She is non to pleased when she goes for a bathroom break and I go running after her camera in hand. Maybe it’s my way of getting back at her for the paw under the door when I try to go.
We have been using ( meaning Lou has been using) the new system since February 22nd, which coincidentally was the day it arrived. Still no odor, no need to scoop and I have already tracked down replacement trays. Now truth be told the litter trays are a tad more expensive then her previous scoopable litter but no unreasonably so. For me the convenience of not having to keep her litter in the basement and remember to scoop it is worth the price. Plus I never have to worry about asking someone else to scoop when we go away. Honestly it’s better than a self cleaning oven. Zero effort on our part and my baby loves it.
