We have all see the Pinterest and Facebook posts of the Oreo Truffles, I mean seriously unless you live under a rock how can you not be aware of the delicious little morsels we like to call poor man truffles. ( OK just I call them that).
Growing up we loved Mom’s Christmas Peanut Butter Balls. They were a tad messy to make but so delicious to snack on. Fast forward to today and I found a genius easy way to re-create Peanut butter balls with only three ingredients and minimal mess.
Sometimes I use affiliate links from Amazon of products I use and like
How to Create Peanut Butter Balls
OREO Cookies, finely crushed, divide ( I used the Peanut Butter flavour)
1pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened
pkg. (4 oz. each) BAKER’S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, broken into pieces, melted
or
you can use chocolate chips
Mix cream cheese and remaining cookie crumbs until blended
SHAPE into 48 (1-inch) balls. Dip in melted chocolate; place on waxed paper-covered rimmed baking sheet.
REFRIGERATE 1 hour or until firm.
MELT CHOCOLATE
Place chocolate in microwaveable bowl. Microwave on HIGH 2-1/2 min. or until chocolate is completely melted, stirring every 30 sec. or melt over medium heat and add small amount of oil or wax to keep from clumping
I also melted some white chocolate to use as a drizzle
ROLL TRUFFLES
To easily coat truffles with the melted chocolate, add truffles, in batches, to bowl of melted chocolate. Use 2 forks to roll truffles in chocolate until evenly coated. Remove truffles with forks, letting excess chocolate drip back into bowl. Place truffles on prepared baking sheet; let stand until firm.
I use to make a Peanut Butter Ball with coconut and rice krispies and peanut butter and icing sugar…. well you get the picture, a decadent ball that everyone loved but not quite as simple as this one. Also I now use the wilton dipping tool, it is amazing)
