The snow has passed at least for now and the temperatures improved, enough so that I was comfortable outside to take a few pictures. Arranged to go in to the office later to avoid after storm traffic so the lighting was supposed to be better for my pictures. Went outside and all the neighbours were snowblowing their driveways so being the shy blogger I am I decided to head to the back yard for pictures. WELLLLLLLLL big mistake, the snow was a bit deep on the deck and the shading of the house affected the lighting so after two failed attempts I decided to put on my big girl panties and act like a real blogger so back out front I went. ( so ignore the hesitant look on my face as I hurriedly tried to snap pictures when no-one was looking, so I guess I am not as bold as I thought but I did manage to pull it off)
and this was nothing compared to the knee deep stuff at the side of the house where I originally started.
Back to my normal studio area and you can see the difference in the lighting, the snow sure does make a nice backdrop doesn’t it?? You probably noticed the suit.. yes it is true I did wear it last week with different sweater, accessories and footwear, confession time when I get something new it does stay on repeat for a bit.
I am breaking a few more fashion rules, this from the yes I wear white jeans in the winter, I am wearing my summer nauticals. Plaid and nauticals, tis true, figured it was a nice change from the everyday. This was the necklace I purchased from Posh Little K that was on constant repeat this summer and you can’t tell but my flashy red socks have little anchors on them.( Old Navy). I am liking the nautical, seriously everyone was wearing anchors this summer but I am not seeing to many lately and I like it. Really enjoying the look today, My heeled Oxfords are from GH Bass and of course the suit is Target,.
Todays #blogmas14 hint is winter activity, well look around me we have snow lots of snow so I know I should say, sledding or skiing or even shoveling but I think I am going with another “S” word SKATING. Not the beautiful figure skating that my lovely Carl did all her life, but that fun, rough and tumble outdoor skating on the canal skating.
Ottawa opens up the Rideau Canal every year as soon as it is frozen and safe and we have the longest outdoor skating rink in the world. The Skateway is 7.8 kilometres long, and begins just steps from Canada’s Parliament Buildings. The scenic skating rink extends to Dows Lake. In between, warm up at rest areas, where there are toasty fires, hot drinks and tasty snacks.
Skating on the Canal is an experience everyone should have so if you find yourself with some time on your hands book a trip to our fair city, try the three weeks covering end of January into February and experience Winterlude the perfect time to experience our Canal.
Happy Friday and have a great two weeks before Christmas weekend.
