Football and Chicken Wings, can you think of one without the other? As I sit here watching the Patriots and Kansas City play I start thinking of Super Bowl planning. Can’t wait to watch my Patriots take another, oops let’s not jinx anything.
This year I will be poolside for the Super Bowl, Carnival Elation is calling my name. But back to the topic at hand menu planning for Super Bowl Sunday. Is there anything tastier than Slow Cooker Chicken Wings or should I say Crock Pot Chicken Wings with Dr Pepper?
Super Bowl Snacks and Ads
Super bowl screams commercials and snacks right? OK yes it is supposed to scream football but it is also about the snacks and the ads. Do you wait anticipating the fun ads you know will be running? Here is a sad fact for you, Canadian stations do not carry the American commercials.
Tis a sad but true fact. we use to if we had satellite or cable get the American Channels but not anymore. Local stations have priority so we do not get to see the ads streaming live. Now I know the game is not about the ads but it kind of is.
There is something about the anticipation of cute or cool ads while you are prepping your snacks. Tell me, it’s not me is it? Do you plan your snacks around the commercials, do you get influenced by the ads? I mean hello Dortios, can you think super bowl with out a bag of dorito chips now?
Super Bowl Crock Pot Chicken Wings
Kent loves his chicken wings and is always experimenting with new flavours. He is a hotter then heck preferred wing man. Me, well I lean more towards a sweet. Just like my BBQ sauce preference give me sweet vs hot any day.
It is the age old Memphis vs Carolina BBQ challenge right? For today’s experiment we went with a combination of both. Prepping the wings in the slow cooker/Crock Pot with a bath of Dr Pepper. Honestly Slow Cooker or Crock Pot meals are the best aren’t they. Simple, easy and so much less mess.
Super Bowl snacking at it’s finest. Chicken Wings with Dr Pepper is a tasty alternative to your traditional wings. These fall off the bone wings will have you clamouring for more. A tasty CHicken Wing recipe you will want to save and test out next year when tailgating.
Prepping Chicken Wings in the Slow Cooker
Wings in the slow cooker really work and are quite easy to prepare. Unpackage your frozen chicken wings and get ready to dazzle your guests. Or even dazzle your family lol.
1)Sprinkle the frozen chicken wings with a bit of seasoning. We tend to stick to Bone Dust.
2) Pour in a can of Dr Pepper and leave on a low heat all day
3) Remove the wings and coat in BBQ Sauce of your choice
4) Toss in oven at 350 for 5 to 10 minutes
5) Remove the wings and serve hot
Frozen or Fresh Chicken Wings
You will need to use frozen chicken wings in the slow cooker or reduce the cooking time required. Fall off the bones is one thing but too long in the machine can create chicken pieces not chicken wings.

I love cooking in my slow cooker. To be honest, I’d probably try this with strips or tenders., possibly drumsticks. I don’t really care for the bone-in wings. It sounds like a nice recipe for the sauce, though!

Me neither on the bone in. Kent does love them though. Strips would work perfectly too
