Is it weird that I am starting to think Halloween fun when Thanksfivi\ng hasn’t happened yet? That pobably sounds like a weird question to my American friends who celebrate Thankgiving in November, right? Well I started digging out my Fall decor and Halloween Decor and got a tad inspired to create. Swapped some Fall Pumpkins into Spooky Halloween Pumpkin Lanterns. Interested in learning how?

Halloween Decor and Crafts
True confession I a always about the Halloween decor but not always a fan of spooky theme. I have run through cutesy decor and whimsical decor but thi year I am leaning towards the spooky theme. Inspired by my Potion Mantle and Skeleton decor I think.
Discovering the open Pumpkin form ( from Micheals’s) I thought it was time for a makeover. In the past I have filled it with blloms and ghourds but 2021 is a time of Scary fun. Turning my inncocent pumpkin into a Spooky Halloween Pumpkin Lantern seemd a fun switch up. Yikes using Fun and Spooky together may defeat the purpose of my new theme.
What you need for a Spooky Pumpkin Lantern
Supplies are pretty straightforward and actually influenced by personal preference. I went to Micheals and wondered through the Hallween section. Getting inspired by crafts already created and then selecting the pics and florals that spoke to me.
- Large Plastic Pumpkin, I found one already cut out ( way easier
- black deco mesh
- Sparkle Halloween Floral pic
- sparkle pumpkin and ghourd
- plastic Halloween Candle
- large spider
- large rat
- scissors
- hot glue
- glue gun
- Imagination
Let’s get Crafting the Spooky Halloween Pumpkin Lantern
Like I said earlier, this part is most;y imagination magic. Your creation will not look like mine as it will have a dash of your magic added. Let the ideas soar, maybe you dont want a rat, maybe a crow is your style or even an icky cockroach, I say those two. Maybe a skeleton bird or a creepy hand, the ideas just keep popping here. So lets get started shall we?
- If you did not purchase a pumpkin already cut, use a sharp craft knife and cut one side of the pumpkin out, about a third should work.
- Cover the pumpkin form in decomesh and attach with hot glue on the top
- Take your Spooky Candle and attach it to the very center of the pumpkin
- surround the candle and the front of the pumpkin with your Halloween Floral
- add a few small pumpkins and ghourds and maybe a spider or two, get creative. Make sure all the pieces are glued securely
- position the rat on the outside of the pumpkin and secure
- add a creepy spider or two along the outside of the pumpkin and attach securely
- Place strategically where it will be sure to scare.
Displaying your Lantern
Finding the perfect spot is key. I have honestly moved this around my house. Adding it beside the mantle, placing on the staircase and then finally on the porch. It was the perfect accent for Halloween Fright Night.

Love it! I love decorating for Halloween, so this is right up my alley! I didn’t know that you Canada celebrates Thanksgiving at a different time that we do in the US. Thank you for teaching me something new. I seek to learn something every day, so you have completed that task for me, lol.
