Superman's Cape and a Bad Tooth

Well IRL I am still in recovery mode. On a positive note I think the infection is subsiding so my jaw is no longer painful from that. The sad part is now I feel like I have been punched in the jaw, not sure how boxers do this all the time. Valuable lessons to be learnt here for sure.

My story began last July when I had a flare up of what I thought was a root canal issue. After several days of intense pain and a hospital visit ( I was away) I slowly got better. A visit to the dentist revealed it was actually a tooth fracture so a root canal was not an option. They referred me to a Periodontist who advised I had three options. 1) extraction and an implant, 2) extraction and a bridge or 3 just an extraction. They best plan was an impant.

My Tooth

I opted for a fourth option, avoidance, do nothing and hope that nothing flared up again. Well sadly for me it did flare up and again I was away. I actually had already made up my mind not to be stupid and go for the implant but time got away from me. I think I believed I had months before a decision was needed. Well super awful infection and my periodontist was mortified blaming himself for not emphasizing the impacts. I told him it was my vanity not his bedside manner. The one point I did miss though was I really thought the infection was gone, I did not realize it lay dormant all this time. Because I was so stubborn, what should have been a relatively easy extraction became a very painful one. I kid you not the pain of the needle to freeze me was awful and the then even the removal at the beginning hurt. It took three freezing’s.

Outcome

I am happy I finally took the step and I am kicking myself because you cannot even see what tooth was removed. What it all means, vanity dictated my actions and could have caused serious harm. I could have become very seriously ill from the infection and all because of me being VAIN. Please if you have a tooth issue listen to the experts. My stubborn behavior not only caused me great pain but it has cost me two weeks of work in the last year.

Update

Here is a fun fact for all of you about three years ago my Blood pressure went out of whack and I had to start taking meds, I have not taken the pill for 10 days and today my pressure was 116/75 closest to perfect I have had since all of this started. ironically that was when my tooth started going bad so COINCIDENCE? I really think there is a lot to the dental health- physical health links.

In case you haven’t figured it out I am still not back in getting dressed mode. Thankfully I seem to have stockpiled outfits or I would be in dire straights at the moment. And I don’t mean the band LOL, are you old enough to catch that reference. I do adore this cape from Forever 21, paired with velvet jeans and my OTK Boots. The necklace was my grandmothers.
