True confession, I adore my house, I know I have said it before but I do not, I repeat DO NOT love the bathrooms. We knew when we moved in that the bathrooms needed a re-do but I did not expect it would be ten years. My oh my where do the years go. Now its not that they are awful, they are just dated, OK no actually they are awful. There is pretty much nothing I want to save
Lets dissect for a second, yes I said Dissect not digress because this time I really want to stay on topic. Lets start with borders…. not the US, Trump will build a wall or a fence kind of thing I mean wall paper borders. Popular in the 80’s and making a comeback but not in my home. I am swapping the border for crown moulding. That’s right I said it CROWN MOULDING in my BATHROOM. Now that is what I call a real upgrade. I am so excited about the crown moulding, I am teaming up with Metrie and by this time next week I am promising you a stunning re-do. I selected the Fashion Forward line ( No surprise there) and I selected the Scene 11 trim . I am really expecting this to sizzle and impress when done.
We are also switching out the baseboards, the door and the door frame for a complete Fashion Forward look. Now all of that would really start updating but if I left the current sink, vanity, mirror etc well that would just be wrong. So back to the picture a) 80’s mirror, gotta go, b) border, ripping it out now, c) well hello dark oak medicine cabinet or should I say see ya later d) look at that cream sick, really styling right and finally e) how about that awesome vanity and cast iron handles…. OK now you see why I am thinking its all gotta go…..
Hmmm and if you happen to be an East Coaster you may recognize all the Katerine Karnes Munn prints, again hello 80’s and my attempt to make the bathroom feel still in the groove.
Now the light I am keeping because I really like to look of it and I think it will match all of the new perfectly.
See how well my new Metrie Fashion Forward door matches the new cabinet, plus the trim will match the crown moulding perfectly. Stay tuned folks this is really happening. Trim is coming out Monday, then each day this week ( after work) we will remove a few things and then Thursday the sink, toilet and vanity will be gone. Painting on Friday and then we will install the mouldings and door. Then the sink, vanity, toilet etc will go on and then I can start worrying about the decor. Wait till you see my faucet and accessories ( that’s a post for tomorrow I do believe)
Are you a big renovator? I use to be, when I lived on my own in Saint John, I use to renovate regularly but this is our first project together ( inside). Fingers crossed this all goes well.
